In talking about art, many definitions that can be given - but mostly hit and led to man's desire to produce an activity. According to Herbert Read, art is an attempt to create new forms of fun. Raymond Williams also believes that art includes various fields such as fine arts (painting, sculpture, drawings, prints, installations, video), sculptures and various art again. For him, art is a skill that is both imaginative and creative.

RG Collingwood defines art as an expression of an activity that involves the production of a sense of emotional artist. Others with Dr. Sidi Gazalba, he said that art is beautiful and it was lovely. According to him, a work of art must have elements of goodness, truth, and high moral values. Whatever it is, I'm more interested in the words of Leo Tolstoy in his book 'What is Art?' (1896). He states that art is the result of undigested experiences and feelings through the line, color, movement, sound, words, language and art form which is shared with others. Yes, shared! - and now I want to share something that is also categorized in the context of the art with you all.

What is the difference?

Cartoons and comics are the two words which are very closely related, but that does not mean the same. Cartoons usually refer to an illustration or a series of illustrations published in newspapers and magazines. Short animated films and television shows also called cartoons. While the comic was a publication - usually a book that consists of comic art in the form of juxtaposed pictorial and other images in deliberate sequence that represent individual scenes.

A cartoon is a single panel image usually used to convey an idea. Sometimes the terms cartoon strip or comic strip are used interchangeably to describe a hybrid of the two.

Comic books use a specific structure which includes, the size of the panels, the placement of the panels, the textural devices such as balloons and captions, etc.

What is Cartoon?

According to Wikipedia - A cartoon is a type of two-dimensional illustration, possibly animated. While the specific definition has changed over time, modern usage refers to (a) a typically non-realistic or semi-realistic artistic style of drawing or painting, (b) an image or series of images intended for satire, caricature, or humor, or (c) a motion picture that relies on a sequence of illustrations for its animation. An artist who creates cartoons is called a cartoonist.

A cartoon is a form of expression or communication, that refers to several forms of art, including humorous captioned illustrations, satirical political drawings, and an animated film. Read more here

While the word cartoon usually refers to an animation or a funny drawing, in an art historical context it can also refer to a full-scale preparatory drawing for a fresco, oil painting or a tapestry. The word we use today comes from the Italian cartone, which simply means a large sheet of paper or pasteboard. Read more here

For me, cartoon is a branch of art into a tool for an artist to convey a message to the public in an entertaining way. Cartoons can be used as a comic, but not all comics are cartoons.

In the next post, I'll tell you about the history of cartoons in Malaysia. Stay tuned steemians! Byee.. (^^;)/

Great writing @fieza-hussin ... upvoted and resteemed for my future academic references... nice interpretation of McClouds definition of comic that scrutinized the previous definition of 'sequential art' by Will Eisner. Great interpretation of the definition of art by other scholars as well.

Love to see if you can include citation and your references source for us to refer as well.
