In the creation of animation, it is important to keep the imagination fertile and versatile. There is no right and wrong in creation of animation. Some people find their niche in political satire, some find their niche in cute and kawaii manga. As they say, whatever style that rocks your boat, that will be sail.

For me, I like freestyle animation. Not bound by any particular storyline. It also challenges the mind to think out of the box and the creation of characters also has no boundaries. This is what I do when I teach young animators in my company to be creative.

Hero Lost in Time

It is just another day in the plains of Morenggeti. Charlie woke up earlier than his usual time. His stomach was having a circus. It must be the rotten BBQ gecko that he had for supper last night. He thought the foul smell was because Tony's bad breath. Its common for Iguanadon to have smelly breath apart because their short arms can't reach their mouth to brush its own teeth. They sometimes rely some scavenging birds to clean their teeth but again, these birds often end up in their stomach instead.

Charlie decided to take a dump near the marshes. It is quite well hidden. Noone will see him. By the time his neighbour Marcy is awake, all is left was yesterday's rotten BBQ gecko partly digested.

On his way back after taking his dump, its Marty the T-Rex and Three the Triceratops in some compromising positions. Everyone know they are lovers, but they refuse to admit it.They love to give each other nibbles at the neck and whenever they notice they are being observed, they abandon the giggles and replace it with growls and scratches. Everyone know their orchestra. But, well, everyone plays along and pretend to be dumb.

There is this pesky newcomer that is creating some rustling at the leaves. He swings from trees to trees and sometimes when he miss his grip, he would fall down in the most awkward fashion. Noone knew what species he is. He looks like a bad cross between a flying fox and an anteater except that he is not that agile. He makes funny sound like an ostrich on heat each time he swings around.

He is also a very weird creature. All dinosaurs in Morenggeti are clothed in their own skin, but this creature decides to wear skins belonging to other dead creatures. Its really bad taste, imagining wearing a lizard's skin over your own skin.

Today is the opening of the new theater in town and the anticipated steem-cartoon is showing. Everyone was pretty excited about it. It is like the biggest event and the biggest stars are casted. Many believe that steem-cartoon will be a huge hit. The owl logo is like the perfect branding for good merchandising. The talk in town is that the owl will be a bigger hit than light sabers.

But lurking behind the bushes, something ain't right. The funny man seems to be at it again, this time he has a quote that noone understands. He must be up to no good.

Who is this Mohammad Ali by the way? One can only guess. But for the time being, the show must go on...

My Interest

There are a few things that I enjoy drawing and one of it is dinosaurs. I like my work to be wacky that way it makes people think and stare a bit longer. I also like to add some element of mystery and suspense. I like to create some confusion and keep the confusion there...these are all elements of a good storyboard.
