The amount depends on your steem power and on how many upvotes you do.
I upvoted another couple of posts and now the 10 ct that you originally got went down a little.

Hello there, welcome to steemit. It takes 7 days for you to get the steem dollar and steem power from your post or feedback. I would recommend you to choose 50/50 payout mode for now and then convert your steem dollar to steem power for now such that you can get more steem power by doing that.

No worries. It is default at 50/50 whenever you make the post, so dont bother to change the payout mode now. And then when you get your payout, half of those would be in steem dollar and half in power. Then you can exchange the steem dollar using the market function(in wallet), and exchange to steem. And then you can power up from there.
