This isn't the post I was originally going to write this morning but I had this big image I wanted to shrink and when I searched I found several old and now incorrect posts. When you first start your post if you have clicked editor you can then click raw html and edit the width and height in the html code. If you have been using the default interface you can use the code below.
Suppose I had the following image that I wanted to use but it is way too big (4076 x 2712).

When I copied the image into the Steemit post window I get the following code:

If I add https://steemitimages.com/407x271/ on the front of the url (ie. ) then I can shrink the image to be 407x271.
I can even get really carried away and make a teeny tiny one with:

I had hoped to simply scale down the image in the browser...so that people can still right click and save the full resolution...but this trick literally resizes the image...which is really good to know if that's what you actually need! The thing with my coloring pages though...they look awful full size in the post because of all that scrolling down and 'full in your face'. I am still trying to figure out how to make a thumbnail image so that you can see the full page in a smaller window.

This is great! I spent so much time trying to resize the original images in my first post and re-upping them (without seeing any effect in the post itself - the size would just stay the same??).
How exactly does this work? Are the images copied to the steemitimages.com server? Or is it a dynamic service re-interpreting the image with every call?
