Thanks @beanz! I'm new to Steemit and posted my first post on Sunday night. Since then I've had many questions pop up about how Steem works and what good etiquette is. This post cleared up a lot for me!

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam
