3 times already my post's thumbnail is showing as only grey. Am I doing something wrong?

I've made about 3 photo posts where I dragged my photo into the text editor. The photo uploaded OK, but the post's thumbnail is grey. Is this a bug on Steemit or could I be doing something wrong? The photos that had this problem are all a good resolution, so that is not the issue.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:
