Bring Back Memories

Seeing the new kid on the block growing from strength to strength reminds me of the initial stages of building #steem-cartoon. We started from scratch with support from close friends of ours and we were lucky that some communities out there are willing to reach out to us and gave a little pull from above. We will not forget #steemiteducation #teammalaysia and #ocd-resteem. You guys had been fabulous.

#steem-cartoon all these while has not been a sub community but instead is a community that is meant for all and it is more than confined by geographica limits, although many of us are Malaysians. We believe that art speaks to all and is a universal language just like music.

The performance last Saturday was an inspiration to us. It shows that if you have a bunch of people who are passionate about what they do, it doesn't take much push because the passion will drive them. I was suprised that there was an artist that was busy drawing during the entire musical presentation and she was also singing along and enjoying herself.

Liberal Latte is owned by Dr. Helmi a young and ambitious guy. An engineer by profession but is involved with the blockchain technology with the government and immediately what we were doing with Steemit hit the right chord. He was warm and he busy entertaining us and most of all, we are very surprised the pricing are no where close to the coffee franchises out there.

@abgmie picked the tab for us all. I was late because of the heavy traffic and I got lost but the entire show just kicked off after I arrived. I was quite surprised with the size of the crowd because it is not easy to gather a crowd during weekends and so close to Chinese New Year. Half of #teammalaysia is involved with another project by @elizacheng in the morning and I guess the rest are here to give their fullest support to @calebleejl.

There are already a few posts that wrote about the event, so to avoid being boring, I will show you a different part that I saw.

I Saw Passion

What was obvious that night which was contagious was the passion and dedication of these group of people. Whilst it is true that visual arts are very quick to capture attention because you don't have to spare much time but music has that special thing that once connected, it is difficult to lose it. I am surprised that @edward-ong despite showing so much of showmanship is actually just doing his A-Levels. He is a crowd favourite with his shy but adorable demeanor.

Just like the community of #steem-cartoon, the infusion of young blood from the University in the likes of my students was the driving force behind the community apart from really talented and award winning artists such as @orenisme, @aurah and @cartoonistpandan. I saw the same vibes that this community carries.

There were a few songs that captured my attention and this one of them...the chemistry is there, no wonder they are husband and wife. Desperado by the Eagles sung by @silviagoh and the man behind it all @calebleejl on the keyboard. He came with his newborn baby who is hardly 2 months old and his eldest son who is also very much into music and coffee.

@perennial kept his introduction and speeches short. He introduced the community, it effort and how steemit works for musicians and I think he made a very important statement that night, this is a community for all and even more for the little guys that has no home of their own.

We are ever ready to assist in this community building and I think this is why the eco-system is so vibrant. Everyone is watching everyone's back. I have never felt alone from the day I joined steemit. Today being a fellow in the @sndbox community, I am glad that our #steem-cartoon is getting a lot of support. The same cannot be said about #steem-music hence in every way that is possible you can count on us...afterall @perennial who has both his feet in both the community is there.
