I have a shotgun with 5 rounds, a backup food supply, and water purification tablets. @heatherlg89 and I have teamed up. We choose option 1. She has a pistol with 8 rounds, a flashlight, and a backup food supply. We both need to eat prior to the end of day 6. We take the rough trail out of town. I am confident I can start a fire 🔥 now with the flashlight. I take the batteries out and use a small piece of trash such as a gum wrapper or any thin piece of metal I can use to jump across the terminals on the battery when the thin strip of metal conducts the charge it will heat up red hot and ignite paper or any kindling as long as it is small enough. I know this works for a fact as it's how I lit cigarettes in jail. If I didn't even have the trash to conduct the charge I could use the spring in the flashlight but I would rather use a piece of trash so I can keep my flashlight working and have 🔥.

Most these dangers can be avoided by being careful, but Sniper bullets can't be avoided.
We both had a nice meal of Purslane plants and need to eat again at the end of day 6.

With a bellyful of purslane, it's time to move on. I'll be looking for food along the way, but now can go on til Day 6 without worrying about starvation. Keeping my pistol with 8 rounds of ammo handy and my flashlight tucked in my back pocket, I'm trying Option 1 and will be taking my chances with hiking a rough trail instead of running across hostile two-leggeds.

My fiancé and I are a team! @Charlesarthuriii. ..... My Inventory: pistol with 8 rounds, and a back up food supply thanks to the plant, and a flashlight. "Thank god for the 🌱 plants, now we both have backup food". We approach the the sign and debate a moment. He turns to me and says "Babe we spent a lot of time prepocalypse rock climbing and hiking rough terrain before. "Skirting the city to find another way out is risky when we've got a familiar way out already. Snipers and cannibals could be looking over the city for their next meal". Not sure which way is best i trust my partner, he's always kept me safe. I say to him"I love ❤️ you so much! We better get moving! Hope nobody dangerous is up on a cliff somewhere ready to attack. I stuff myself on the purslane and make my way onward. As I near city limits the terrain makes a drastic change, becoming more uneven and rocky. I spot a sign warning that travelers should take caution, and choose to take a moment securing my pockets so that I am less likely to drop things during any climbing that may arise.

I've been on hiking trails with some of these signs. The falling rocks are the one that bothers me, but usually that's the biggest problem when it's raining and while Papa Pepper gave us no clues on weather...he didn't mention the rain either.

I checked the spreadsheet to see if I was now on a team or not and it shows solo there, so I guess I'm going solo. I'm quite nimble, so this might actually be the safer of the 2 options. A road less traveled. Danger is everywhere!
