Wild Dogs & Barbed Wire!

When we left our remaining teams yesterday, they had just encountered a pack of wild dogs. To the side of the teams was a metal fence with barbed wire along the top. To the other side was the woods. The road continued away from the dogs, but the teams had a pistol with four rounds in it... but there were eight dogs. What did the teams choose to do, and how did it work out for them?

DAY 4 ROUND 1 RESULTS

Option 1 - Attempt to climb over the barbed wire fence.

With the hungry wild dogs rapidly approaching, five of the teams climbed the fence and made it over the barbed wire. Thankfully, they only left a little skin on the barbs and did not end up feeding their whole bodies to the canines. The teams that climbed the fence survived that round, but, they are now inside of the fence....

Option 2 - Attempt to run back into the woods.

One team chose to attempt to run away from the dogs by heading back into the woods. With so many dogs hot on the trail of two adults, the probability of success was not high. The forest floor was overgrown with green briers and wild grape vines, which made traveling slow... too slow...

Unfortunately the team who ran into the woods has been recycled and turned into dog food. Better luck next time, and I sincerely hope that you will be back next time. Thanks for playing!

RIP @nextgen622 & @snooway

Option 3 - Attempt to run away from the dogs down the road.

None of the teams from yesterday chose this option. I bet that kind of makes you wonder what would have happened...

Option 4 - Attempt to kill the dogs with the gun.

One gun, four bullets, eight wild dogs, and two brave souls? Maybe not so much on the last one. One team held their ground, clenched their fists and fired their shots. Unfortunately, these dogs were too ferocious and hungry to let a few bullets killing a few of their pack-mates hold them back.

It was violent and it was bloody, but now it is over... At least for this team, until Season 3 starts. Great effort guys and thanks so much for playing. I wish it didn't have to end this way, but such is survival...

RIP @okkiedot & @avarice

DAY 4 ROUND 2

On the other side of the fence, the vegetation is thick. Surprisingly, there are no ticks, which may not exactly be a good sign. As the teams slowly progress through the thick underbrush, they find nothing that looks edible. This is unfortunate, as some of the team members are getting really hungry.

Soon the forest opens up to a dirt road. Whatever is inside this fence, gravel roads were put in for travel. Cautiously, the teams begin to work their way southward down the edge of the road. They figure if they can stay near enough to the edge, they will be able to quickly jump into the bushes if need be. So far, though, they haven't heard or seen a vehicle.

Speaking of sounds, there is a small creek running under the road just ahead. Running water is often a good sign, so the teams start to approach it. The sound of the rippling waters is like music in their ears. On their way, the teams find something else.

Whatever it was, it isn't anymore. Also, it looks like roadkill, which means that at least once vehicle has passed this way in the past few days, perhaps more. Whoever ran this creature over and what they were up to remains a mystery for now. It may be worth noting that they hit and killed an animals though and did not stop to eat it. Who knows why?

Anyway, it could be a possible food source. Should the teams eat it? Maybe it would be best just to try to find something edible in the stream up ahead. Perhaps the teams could even use the roadkill as bait. Hmmm... multiple options in a life and death situation.

OPTIONS

  • OPTION 1 - Forget about trying to eat and just head on.

  • OPTION 2 - Try to eat the dead thing.

  • OPTION 3 - Use the roadkill as bait in the stream and see if it attracts anything.

  • OPTION 4 - Use the roadkill as bait on land and see if it attracts anything.

  • OPTION 5 - Try to locate and capture something edible in the stream with your bare hands.

Congrats to the final five!

@steemerstan I think option 3 for us.

Sorry I didn't notice your entry before putting in my own further on. Option 3 it is. Maybe those little carnivorous crabs will want to feast on it . Then we can eat them.

The Kiwis had a look at the squashed remains, thought even the ravenous hounds on the other side of the fence wouldn't eat it either, so left it for the birds in the air.
The stream could be poisoned so it and anything in it would be the same,
if there was anything on land that was interested in the remains it would have gone by now.
We hitched our packs up a little bit and carried on walking, with the young one working out his next report.

Option 1 for us please Papa

Oh man! I hope they make it out alive. I vote eat the dead thing. Then die. Then be reborn as a pelican and fly above the fence. Good luck to those still in reality. Fun choose your own adventure read Pappa P!

Ouch! That hurt!
Those puppies weren't very nice.
But we managed to get to safety and now we are back on track to..... where is it we are going again?

Away from that papa pepper fella, between his snakes and evil ideas we got to carry on and outlast him somehow.
Forward Ho the Wagons, the west is this way ................

Thanks @papa-pepper. We took a big risk, knowingly, and it went horribly and violently wrong for us. It's a dog-eat-dog world out there.

At the very least, I'll be back for the next season - I hope that @okkiedot will join me again next time - it was a lot of fun. I look forward to seeing how the remaining survivors fair over the coming days =)

@papa-pepper You should have seen how I bit this one rabid poodle right in the neck : [>] It was a lot of fun, can't wait for the next season! @avarice I'll be glad to join you :)

@lukmarcus - are we going to eat that? It's out last chance for a meal.

There is no other way. We must eat that. Szumni option 2.

We have to eat and the options are not attractive. I choose #2 just because it is there and nothing else is. The stream looks good and if we could, I would grab the RK and search the stream for frogs and little crawdads and crabs and stuff but that isn't in the cards. If it was a little sooner, I would have shot one dog from the other side of the fence and eaten that. One bullet at point blank range. Even further back, I should have agreed with you Florio and eaten the plant which choice #2 at the time. But there is no going back so I vote to dine on slightly aged roadkill. #2

@papa-pepper - please see above, gourmets actually choose option 3. Thanks.
