The media is a very important sector in the development of a country. The media should set Agenda that develops a country. The Africa media particularly Ghana are however interested in following famous citizens life.
The Africa media prefers concentrating on so called "Celebrities"( Famous Citizens) lifestyle, such as their unsuccessful relationship, luxury properties amongst other unnecessary stories to poverty reduction, educational improvement and even reducing graduate unemployment related stories.
But we can't blame them too much especially when successive governments have not been interested in investing in the media sector. When our best academicians are foist to go into Medical, Accounting or law studies because of the prestige attached to these programs of study. This leaves the average person or even the worst student to enter into the media and the results are what we have been seeing. Until we see the importance of the media and its role in developing a nation, Ghana will have a long way to go.
