Lets Make Steem Different!.png

Branding is very important when it comes to general consumers especially when seeking long term adopters! What we as Steemers need to to is differentiate ourselves from what others Call “Crypto Currencies” Like Bitcoin, Litecoin, Monero, Etc. This is why i wanted to talk about the branding behind “Crypto Currency”! Lets start with the definition of crypto or cryptography meaning “the art of writing or solving codes.” To the normal consumer, with no knowledge or “Crypto Currencies” might get the sense that they need to solve something to use it!The overall idea behind crypto currencies is genius and I must thank Satoshi Nakamoto for introducing the world to the idea!

I fell in love with marketing when I was on my journey to major in Accounting for my underground and learned that the key to growing a business relied heavily on marketing! But all and all this post isn’t about me it is about the crypto currency world! We all need to focus heavily on adoption with the masses if we truly want to be recognized! It doesnt matter if we are Bitcoin, Steem, Ethereum, or Dash. We want to be recognized by the world as a real Currency.

Why as a community of 200,000 Plus, why not be the first to start branding our love of steem as a DIGITAL CURRENCY! Lets get one step ahead of our competitors before its too late!

We live in the digital age! That means we need to consider greatly how we want to position ourselves for mass adoption! Digital Currencies sounds more friendly so to speak to individuals that are new to the idea of an online currency! Why dont we call them all Digital Currencies officially. Essentially that is exactly what they are! They dont sound mysterious or anything when they are referred to as Digital currencies! What I want to do for steem is just get the word out, starting with this great community!

When Creating posts dont refer to crypto currencies as such but lets note them as Digital Currencies! We are in the Digital Age, lets mark them as so!

Long story short, if we are looking to have “crypto currencies” adopted by the masses, it will need to be rebranded by the masses in the crypto currency world! We need to rebrand the identity of crypto currencies to Digital Currencies!

Would you comment below sharing your thoughts on whether to keep branding “CRYPTO CURRENCIES” as such or work as a community to brand them as Digital Currencies? What are your thoughts behind this idea? Was this this a waste of time even considering this concept?

Lets Take Steem and Steemit to the next level!

Thank you all and I hope you have a great day!

Cheers,
Albert

if u start branding it as digital currency whats the difference between it and the money used in paypal or bank transfers...those are digital as well..where is the differentiating factor..We cant just call it digital currency because it would be easier for people to understand...Because if it will be branded as digital instead of crypto how will the general mass make a choice between paypal or btc...

Nice

Outstanding point here in this article Albert you helped me a LOT with it! I will start calling Steem a digital currency or electronic money going forward instead of a cryptocurrency which does as you explain make it sound challenging and not legit. I voted up 100%!

I agree on this on so many levels. Digital currencies it is!

I agree and disagree. While it is closest to a "crypto-currency" when referring to familiar tokens, none of the cryptos are technically "currency" at all.

Steem and SBD are "digital tokens" or "virtual tokens" that can be exchanged for fiat currencies. Even more correct than "token" would be "credit" akin to Star Wars.

I would like to see digital tokens be accepted as "credits" in this way where I could simply use my card to spend universally accepted money at any retailer worldwide.

Unfortunately there are more digital tokens than there are world fiat currencies, and while all of these are based on an "agreed upon value" it makes the idea of universal acceptance a hassle on the side of merchants. As a merchant myself I find it difficult to accept both cash and credit cards, let alone over 500 digital tokens with values that can change several times a minute.

This circles back to why it should be called a token or credit instead of a currency. It is not as stable as currency and in most cases needs to be exchanged for currency before it has a "real" value.
