Hey @voltagrou =)
heimindanger is not able to do magic. Storage is expensive and has recurring costs. You have to keep in mind that DTube is not playing any ads. YouTube takes a big cut of all earnings the youtubers make to store videos. https://vid.me failed, DTube can grow because of IPFS.
IPFS is not centralized like YouTube, everyone can create a IPFS Node and host videos on there. If creators take a small cut in their earnings and host a Node, the problem is solved. The costs grow continuous with new videos made. But thats how it is. We may see some futuristic data saving methods which are cheaper someday, but not right now.
The idea is in my opinion to make something unique, decentralized. If everything is centralized at DTube, there is much more work involved. You have to manage the hard drives, swap them if there is something corrupted, have backups of everything in hand. And this is growing with every video uploaded. Its simply too much and not the thought behind decentralization IMO.
The problem is that the vast majority of people earn so little that they will publish their videos at a loss. While some users have big rewards for low quality and low cost content. We should better reward those who spend time making quality content.
For my part, I don't pretend to include myself in it, but many videos on DTube have disappeared from DTube just because the person hasn't received enough reward.
So on DTube the advantage is to be remunerated, but if you have to pay in addition to not earning anything it is not viable. This will not attract anyone but large whales.
I'm not sure I was clear about my feelings, in which case I'm ready to go into more detail.

What we'd need logically, the way steem is designed, is an incentive for witnesses to run IPFS nodes and pin files which hashes have been referenced on the chain. Just counting how much storage they are benefitting to the network would be enough to make me choose my witness votes :) But that's not going to happen :(
But yeah of course we understand your feelings, it's sadly just impossible for us to start pinning all the files indefinitely, it would just stack up and increase our maintenance and costs over time.
We've improved our storage strategy greatly in the last patch already, and I think tech evolves quickly and these issues will be overcome with time, in a natural way, with users holding copies of their files on their own devices (pc or phone).
Storage is getting cheaper and cheaper. Today it's easier than 1 year ago to run IPFS nodes without your bandwidth getting destroyed and starting pinning files. There's even some legit UIs where you don't need to be a hacker to use it. Also, usually the content creators need to keep copies of their source files (most youtubers do that), so why not keep them in IPFS directly and hit two birds with the same stone?

Anyway, as you say over time it's going to get easier to hosting files.
So thank you for your comment I remain attentive to the next evolutions.
