I'm in front of my laptop, after just having breakfast and sipping a cup of green tea, before getting out in this beautiful and sunny Saturday. It's not a regular Saturday though, because today I celebrate two years spent daily on this blockchain. Yep, I'm a two year Steem toddler and it feels damn good.
Rewinding time a bit before opening the champagne...
So, I got into Steem after a friend of mine told me about it, although he never joined it. It was January 2018 and little did I know that the bull market was over and I was suppose to sell everything and get out of the market at that time. I was caught in the crypto vortex, while dreaming of getting rich over night, so I refused to look from the cliff down. The good part, because there's always one, of such attitude, was that I got the taste of crypto and little did I knew that I would be earning some, by blogging.
When this friend of mine told me about Steem, all I knew was that you could post shit around here and you would earn Steem, and that's it. I checked the price of Steem and said to myself that's legit. I wasn't having in mind to turn this account into an alternative to instagram or facebook, as I was hating the two at that time, but I truly intended to make it a tech blog.
Being a smartphone geek, and following tons of youtube channels and twitter accounts related to tech, would have made me the tech blogger of Steem, but it didn't... I faced the cruel reality that nobody cares that much about such posts, and that they can read for themselves online the info that I was about to share, and changed my tactic. I embraced randomness and ever since, random became my middle name. I blogged about the F1, about ginger and cold showers, I had my philosophy and spirituality days, and I wrote tons of posts about Bitcoin.
Ohh, and I uploaded hundreds of smartphone pics, some quite lame and shitty and some really good, and appreciated by fellow steemians. Now the goal is to stack all of my liquid Steem, through this bull market, and by the end of the year to buy myself a DSLR, so I can finally enter properly the world of photography. Hopefully the price will help as well so I can buy a good one, and if possible, even sooner than the end of the year.
Enough with math and what brought me to Steem, so let's talk about people and my relationship with steemians. I am not a too friendly guy, thus my community in here is pretty small, but I still have some two or three folks that I engage with quite often, and that saves my experience of a lone wolf. I was a kind of lone wolf when I started this journey, but gradually I learned this is more than a milking blockchain, and it also plays the role of a social media platform.
On the course of two years I can say that I met online quite a lot of characters in here, and some are still in my friends list, some aren't anymore. Some have left the platform, unfortunately, while others simply got out of my resonance and we didn't followed each other anymore. Same as real life, people come and go, but the idea is that you can really find nice people in here. For real.
I have many posts in which I compare my facebook experience with the Steem one and one of the major difference that I see between the two, is the authenticity of human interaction in here. There isn't that much false attitude in comments and appreciation in here, like on the blue spider that spread its web all over the world. People tend to spill their guts out and point to that vegetable stuck between your teeth if they see it. I appreciate that, because I prefer folks that are straightforward and common sense driven, rather than fake nice ones.
What Steem gifted me with?
First of all, it represents the social media of the future as I like to call it, and I am more than happy to be part of it for two years now, it offered me the direct experience of using a blockchain, learning a bit about the tech, and earning crypto, which is much more than any other platform currently offering. It made me a blogger, not the best but not the worst, and managed to eat me hundreds of hours spent online, that would otherwise be wasted on crap.
About the time I joined Steem, through steemit.com, I was in a pretty hard period of my life when I was dealing with some sort of depression and anxiety, and life didn't looked shinny at all, and this blockchain captivated my attention from those bloody energy and mental health thieves, thus I appreciate it a lot for playing the policeman role. So yeah, it played the role of therapy as well.
What have I done, worth mentioning, for Steem?
What I consider the most important contribution of mine for Steem is my, almost daily uploaded content. I say almost daily, because I couldn't manage to blog or post anything, every single day in these two years. I did poured hundreds, if not thousands of hours, in writing my posts and trying to make them as... good as I can, and this is the major part of my contribution. Basically I played, the best I could, the content creator role and generated some traffic for the platform.
In regards of curating content, I am a small fish, but I do use my VP, because I feel like doing it right, and although I powered down a few hundred Steem during last summer, and I regret doing that, I promise to keep on stacking. I realize that holding a stake in Steem is highly important and don't plan to power down any soon, even if we'll gonna have a four weeks power down time frame.
I am not financially invested in Steem, but I did invest a lot of time in using, and not spamming this platform, I engaged and tried to be relevant with my comments as much as I could, and I share on twitter, thanks to the #posh initiative, almost every post of mine. It's the little things that matter, and I believe that the more steemians will share and talk about Steem on other social media platforms the more exposure the blockchain will have and the token will appreciate.
This Steem anniversary post seems to get too large proportions and it would be the time to close it. I don't want to do that before shouting a huge THANK YOU Steem, THANK YOU to all of you that upvote my posts, that share your opinions on my posts and resteem them. It's each and one of you that give this experience a meaningful one. It's really great to be part of this platform and I promise to be an active user as long as my time and energy will allow it. Cheers for another Steem year ahead and see you with a similar post on my third anniversary.

So in two years from you have become one of the best content creators I met. I am glad to have met you and I hope we will continue pushing this Steem thing up.

Thank you for doing curation manually and picking up my post today. I wish many others would do the same and curate manually instead of setting up an auto vote and let the SP working for them. Really appreciate both, your upvotes and comment.

Thank you. I hope you do post more often because I found your posts worth reading, all of them. From what I remembered you bought yourself a boat and it would be nice to see some more pics of it. I understand that not everyone has that much time to post on Steem that often but I wish some users, including you, would be more active. I appreciate you comment and upvote as well. Have a great weekend!

Happy Steemiversary!
You know, I joined Steem after being basically demonetized from YouTube for no reason, there’s something really valuable in this community, maybe because it is still a niche of people with a similar mindset, but I love Steem and what we’re building.
Engagement has been going down a bit since the time you joined, but I believe that in the grand scheme of things, Steem remains one of the most appealing blockchains for onboarding the masses to the industry through real everyday usage.
Cheers !BEER

Hi @fedesox
I've noticed that we're both playing holybread. Im on my way to get you! :) Round 1 is for you so far (I play as @creativeblue)
Hope you're enjoying playing holybread. I found this game quite entertaining. Perhaps it will get boring soon, but right now it's still loads of fun :)
What's your impression so far?
Yours,
Piotr

Hey @crypto.piotr it’s a cool web app, pretty simple in the mechanics for now but it can grow and add new features.
Like SplinterLands or Nextcolony, the gameplay is perfect for quick plays and that’s something a lot of people like in a game,a mobile app would seriously propel gaming on Steem to new highs.

I’ve been here a bit long than two years and it’s been a wild ride. I’ve had Steem pay for meals during a bull run too. It’s really a fascinating thing. I am also hearing about project where Steem donations are giving people food and clean water.
It truly is amazing.
