I noticed this as well and this is only my second day here. Both my posts were downvoted or whatever by this smooth person you were talking about. I thought i might have did something wrong. That's really obnoxious that someone would go out of there way to stop someone from getting upvoted for whatever personal gain or misguided beliefs they may have.

There is an experiment going on to improve the platform. Both of of your post would have probably yield less than 5 cents a week ago but because of this experiment new users are able to earn at least some rewards. Before the experiment 1% of users controlled 99% of the reward allocation, the downvote thing is so far the best thing the community found to make the platform more fair.
