is there any way for eos and steemit to get merged into a single application? Because, steemit may struggle to scale if all facebook users jump into it (I guess), but eos can scale well (I guess, [I have no technical knowledge]) ...

Let's see what the future hold. Steem and eos have the same owner. Steemit an app on steem and there will be many apps, so there is surely something going to be tying steem to eos. Let's see how it unfolds
