While I agree Steemit needs a change in governance, a change in culture is more needed. People are more interested in making money than socializing on this platform, and we're all guilty of this. Just check any forum related to Steemit (like Facebook, Rocket chat, onG Social, Slack, etc) and everyone is more interested in post promotion than actually interacting with each other. I never see this with any other crypto-community or social platform.
Maybe one small step forward would be to hide the amount of rewards a particular post earned? Youtube doesn't show how much ad revenue a video makes. Instead, it focuses on views and likes. I haven't seen Steemit's landing page in a while, but perhaps it shouldn't advertise so strongly that you can make money from posting.
