For 7 Reasons:

  1. No Mark Cuckerberg.
  2. No SJW censors.
  3. You can actually make money on Steem as opposed to only your wasting time.
  4. You get to interact with people in a low stress environment.
  5. There is the possibility of getting rich if Steem turns into a hot cryptocurrency.
  6. You can do whatever you want!
  7. It's a cyber frontier instead of being back in high school and having to deal with your old peers.

Yeah steemit is way better than Facebook but how do we get our moms on board. I mean she could share pictures but it needs something to make it more friendly for non geek folks.

following you now man

Something to be aware of is that anybody can downvote a post for any reason and that reduces the post rewards. I've seen one or two downvote wars in my short time here. Hopefully the community as a whole still continues to frown on politically motivated downvoting. To some extent the platform does not incentivise too much downvoting because if the community shrinks, then the value of the steem cryptos go down too.

thanks for the info eturn, no doubt you're right about that, and leftists never care about defeating the whole purpose of an exercise they're counter-productive people as a rule

I fully agree. Vote up.

thank you my friend!

I support.

and i'm following you now

I don't know if Steemit is much like Facebook. There's no real profile, no central photostorage, a lot less social interaction in terms of linking other interesting stuff.

So far Steemit seems mostly a platform for short-term (1-3 days) messages, discussions and blog posts. I am not sure what kind of social network that makes it, maybe a cross between twitter and reddit? But I don't think it's much like Facebook at all in it's current form.

i see it improving a lot in the years to come as we post more and more on it and more folks join

Most of the social/community happens in various Discord servers.
I use IPFS to store photos but I have a computer on at almost all times.
Good call on the cross-between reddit and twitter. Though there are other UIs out there that chsnge the experience. I hear good things about chainbb and its forum like organisation.
