I find it strange how english and finnish appear so different. Perhaps it is because written finnish sounds so different from spoken, that reading a written finnish text appears so corny when compared to english.

I think it's rather the case that you may not be used to reading about these topics in Finnish. If English appears less this or that, it's most likely because you are effectively tone deaf to one degree or another when it comes to the subtleties of style in English.
