Best and Worst Times to Post on Steemit - Further Analysis

in steem •  7 years ago

IMG_2221.PNG

This is just a follow up post to my post from yesterday (see here). Here, I look at the best and worst times to publish by most popular tag. So, I took the top 10 main tags by popularity over the period and created a graph for each.

The 10 graphs below each show the total posts published each hour (UTC time) as well as the middle payout from the total range of payouts.

For this analysis I have taken a longer period of time - 01/06/2017 to 16/06/2017

You will see the shape of the graph is quite different for "KR" as this tag is for Korea and we would expect the busy times to vary.

Here are the results.

honestly, i guess it doesn't really matter when you publish your post. All you have to do is to keep pump good quality articles. Just as simple as that. :D

yeah I kind of agree. I've seen these types of metrics before and it would be nice if I could schedule accordingly but When I've completed a post i just uploaded, share it on my social media and move on.

well, if you are much in the blogosphere community, there are recommendations to publish articles in the morning since people are more likely to stare at their smartphone in order to entertain themselves.

Honestly, trying to publish an article during a certain time, won't change the outcome and your payout. The bottomline is, if it's a good article, people will definitely upvote it.

Fantastic information! Resteemed. I think you are well on your way to becoming very successful here IMO

This is a really cool set of data. Thank you for posting.

From what i gather, the best times to post about cryptocurrency/bitcoin are early in the AM (on whatever timezone this is,) or late in teh evening 10 - midnight.

I still don't know for what time zone this is.

It's given in the post. It's UTC - Coordinated Universal Time

Yes, what the time zone?!?

UTC

It coincides with GMT ecxept it doesn't compensate for daylight savings

Very nice post, undervalued work, will resteem :-)
I have the same feeling, that after noon UTC there is a rush of posts going live.. And then by evening everyone burned their voting power... I like posting in the morning now :-)

The reasons this is not getting upvotes:

  • tag KR while it isn't Korean
  • tag introduceyourself while it isn't an intro

Ups thx @felixxx haven't checked the tags.. Guess that's quite a reason why it's undervalued :-D maybe author should take better care of tags he's using

I posted a while back about what the best time to post was because I was not getting many views for certain posts. This is great data and I thank you very much. Already a FOLLOWER, so I am Upvoting and Resteeming this!

thanks! upvoted and resteemed.

very good information, however it depends on your time zone isnt it?

Thank you very much for sharing this information. I am from South Africa and most of my posts has just been going down this list with only very few views, because I just posted without thinking about time difference.

Will try and save some post and post it at night time and see if this will help to increase views and followers.

You sir are a life saver. : )

It's quite funny to watch how a community behaves when there is financial incentives.

Steemit is becomming a really good case-study for game theory.

Most authors will benefit more from putting an extra 5m of thought in their posts than they will by posting at a certain time.

My two cents.

So unless I'm reading the chart wrong it appears that the best time to post is when for the most part the activity is the lowest?

This is an interesting article! I like how this info is going to help other steemit users! Thanks so much for the content! Upvote my reply please!

I read your graphs yesterday and now again today and it raises some interesting points. I have always thought it was best to post around 1800 as the US was just getting off work but Europeans were still awake. However, it seems that in the morning there may not be as much competition for rewards as there is less posts being published at that time. I know overall the rewards pool stays the same, but with many lest posts going out on people's feed yours is more likely to be upvoted. Hmmmm. Thanks for a great post @bitgeek!

Where is this data from? I want to see it for some other categories.

Interesting analysis, although for it to be useful please tell us what timezone this is. :P

This is great information!

Great post, thanks for taking the time to do the research and share with us, upvoted!

Awesome! thank you so much for this post! Very beneficial :D newbie here;)

I'm not sure I understand the graphs. If I understand your graphs, it's better to post in the afternoon? This is really good information to have, tho. I had no idea that there are better times to post. Learn something new every day on this platform.

Thank you for this, I will be using this knowledge for future posts!

Well done! This is really helpful. I never thought timing is also important.

COOL

Thanks for this i am glad i followed you.

Hi !
This is an automatic message.
According to SteemData, you have now used #introduceyourself 9 times.

You might not be aware of this, but #introduceyourself is mainly used by new accounts, to introduce themselves once. Please consider other, appropriate tags.

If these times are EST in the U.S. posting early in the morning seems to be best overall. A followup would be nice from you stating what the actual timezone you used is.

very useful info!resteemed!

I always had that question in mind thanks for answering it. #happy

Nice thats good to know. Upvoted!

Great work! Very useful. Thank you

What about soccer

Wow, the graphs are pretty detailed. However, I still have one big question in mind. The time varies from country to country. So, the time you published, what's the time zone you took by default? :)

I did know timing of posts can impact earnings. Thanks for sharing

This is an in valuable post thank you for putting together the graphs and info. I will Resteem, upvote and follow.

Thanks for clarifying the time zone.

invaluable... ty!

Upvoted. Where do you source your data from?

Great info, thank you! Now I have a better understanding why my introduction post got so little attention, I managed to hit the absolute bottom of course!

surely if everyone posts at the time you suggest then we will feel overwhelmed and gradually that time will move? - i'm posting when it's done, i don't need to gamify when i post to earn more, you either like it or not. i treat steemit as a free blog host that if i get some funds GREAT, if not, i have the community to engage with on their posts. that's more than any wordpress blog ever gave me!

Upvoted, thanks, i will follow this guidelines for a while to see if this has some real impact..

Intriguing. I was trying to figure it out, but it seems still a bit of luck too.

great info!! thanks for sharing

Amazing analysis on this one. Upvoted & Promoted. Thanks for that info.

some useful insight will be focusing to publish close to the data given.

Please keep up you research. If you do it for longer periods of time it will become more accurate. Nice Post!

Great info! Upped and Resteemed.

gracias por la información

Really useful information. Resteemed!

What time zone?

Cool data set, but I am not convinced. Of course, I guess I could use your data as a base line. Only time will tell...lol!

This is awesome @bitgeek! thanks for posting! i defenently follow and upvote you!

Can you share the data of books ?

I would like to know how 92 votes for this post equals a payout of $5.83! Is this because of so many 'dust' users voting with no SP?

This post has been ranked within the top 10 most undervalued posts in the second half of Jun 29. We estimate that this post is undervalued by $99.98 as compared to a scenario in which every voter had an equal say.

See the full rankings and details in The Daily Tribune: Jun 29 - Part II. You can also read about some of our methodology, data analysis and technical details in our initial post.
