When I first started investing in Steem, it was around $3.00. I believed in it so I dropped a little chunk of change in and wrote. I bought in at $2.50 while writing some more. Then again at $2.00, as I got more confident in my writings but my engagement with others. All the way down to .the almost 800 Steem I grabbed at .33 cents just minutes ago.

Whenever I have a chunk of change that I can (maybe) spare, I have been putting it in and Powering Up. Every cent. Why? Because I believe in what this community can become. Having attended SteemFest a couple of weeks back has reaffirmed and only strengthened those beliefs.

I’ve been more involved in different ways and looking at things a bit differently since then. Yes, the recent updates from @ned paints a slightly grim and not tremendously promising picture...but I’m looking long term. I’m here for the duration. My goal was initially to hit 10k by the end of the year. I’ve now changed that to 15k with 20k by my birthday in February. I’d love to be swimming with the Orcas by Summer of next year.

Maybe my investment will go belly up. I don’t think it will but even if it did, I’ve already found treasure in you guys. The community and friends I’ve made here are some of the greatest rewards that any chain has produced. So in the meantime, I’m going to keep on Steeming. Keep on networking as much as I can. Keep on trying to get noticed...which is still super hard. Keep on thinking of the few ways that I can make an impact, help others, and leave my mark here. Keep on believing in not only the platform, but in myself. Are you with me?!?

Guess we are still on this boat because I haven't gone anywhere either regardless of the news and will buy small amounts where I can @blewitt

Yup yup. Glad to hear that brother. Let’s make things happen.

Awesome, I just bought more Steem about the same time you did...not that much though. My wife started using Steemit about a month before I did. She has had so much fun and I love helping her with ideas. We enjoy our Steemit time together!

That’s fantastic to hear! Love seeing when couple others are involved and passionate. My wife is on here too but nowhere near as engaged as I am.

Let’s hope that we can both reap the benefits soon enough.

Fair play!

I need to earn me some fiat, 4 STEEM for a Euro sounds like a deal to me.

Good luck!

Get that contracting job and you can start buying small chunks!! I’m super friggin Gung Ho right now. This winter I’m going to work my ass off and hopefully Make some major strides. Hope you can do the same.

Sounds good, I'll see what I can do. All my minnow buddies are powering up like crazy, hopefully they'll remember me when they are Orcas!

The community and friends I’ve made here are some of the greatest rewards that any chain has produced.

OWwwwwww <3 This was beyond niceee. Sweetest investment post ever, I believe. Very good on you for buying that Steem, I don't think it'll go belly up either (but then, how could any of us think that?).
I've told you before, you have an amazing attitude about Steem, which is really inspiring, particularly through such bloody markets.

Good luck with reaching Orca ;)I'm sure you can, are capable and worthy and all that. Basically yeah, I just want more rich kids in my friends' list. And I mean that in a totally not scrounger-y way.

Lol. A friends list full of rich kids. Goals to strive for!!! Lol.

Thanks. It was hard not to be inspired with so much passion lumped together in one place. Of course investing is a big gamble but I need to try something. Tired of playing things safe so I’m going to try to make some moves which could pay dividends later on.

Good work, and I truly hope it pays off for you, as it may for all of us :)

Oh my...me too my friend. I hope we all are sitting pretty this time next year.

So good to hear these words at a challenging time! I wish I could have made it to Steemfest, so the insight you share from that is appreciated. It's a tough time for all block chain ventures, but I believe in the end product! :)

Thank you so much. You should really try your hardest to make it next year. It was an absolute blast.

As far as my hope and belief in Steem, I’m fairly bullish on it. I think we will seebout day in the sun again.

Rock on. I am trying to grow here and on whaleshares. You are growing faster than I am. That is for sure.

I haven’t tried whaleshares yet but have been meaning to look into it.

I’m just trying to add in bits and pieces when possible while it’s cheap. Either I’m going to be a genius or a moron. Time shall tell. Lol

do it. Get in while it is small.

Do you just repost from one to the other?

yeah, sometimes I crosspost stuff sometimes I do original stuff for each one. Just depends how I feel that day

Gotcha. I’ll definitely check it out.

I am thinking about powering up overthere
I mean my vote here on steemit is worth 10 cents with 4000 SP
or
my 550 whaleshares account over there is worth about 4.5 cents
So if i buy 1000 whaleshares at 6 or 9 cents each then my vote is worth more than my vote on steemit

Interesting. What’s the community like there?

You know I’m with ya!

Hell Yeah!!!

I know what you mean... although I get the feeling (purely intuitive) that I should hold out a bit longer. Not sure we've seen the bottom yet.

My goal's 10K by the end of the year. Maybe more depending on what my Fiat earnings look like end of December.

NB - a word of caution... SF was a total bubble - it was basically mostly the top tier earners... (representing the top 3% of earners)

The other 97% and non steemians may see things differently. Which is a concern viz demand for the token IMO.

Hey brother.

Yeah I think there is still more gloom ahead. I think it might drop a bit further but I feel we are real close to bottoming out. You are so close to 10k. No doubt you’ll get there by the end of the year.

I totally see what you mean on SF and agree but it doesn’t make me any less inspired by it. Yes the numbers aren’t great when you run them and we need more passionate people to want this to be a better place, but I’m hopeful in time that it will happen. Maybe. Lol

I've got my limit buy in...I think I set it at around 0.0081 BTC (might be one less or more 0 in there). Not too much more though.

I'm also hopeful!

Let’s hope we can revisit this thread a year or two from now and be thrilled with our decisions. Lol

Second that!

howdy sir blewitt! wow you got faith! I think it will survive long term but I still see it as a bit of a gamble but having said that I sure hope you're right!

Total gamble. Absolutely but I’m done sitting on the sidelines. I’m going to take action and take a chance. I’m tired of playing it safe. Fingers crossed.

haha! sir blewitt I admire your courage! Are you in any other cryptos or just steem?

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

I’m into about 10 different projects. Not major amounts but enough that if and when the market recovers, some should see some good movement. You?

nothing here, I'm trying to talk Mrs.J into investing some and she's actually pretty open minded so hopefully soon.

That’s great. What blows my mind is how resistant some people are to it. I get being scared to put a ton in but most average middle class people in the states could afford to not go out to eat or smoke a bit less. Drop that premium channel from your cable package. That 20 -40 extra dollars a month for a few months could make a big difference. I have friends who go down to Atlantic City and blow 800 bucks at the casino. Yet won’t take 200 and throw it into btc. So oddd to me.

howdy again sir blewitt! wow that is amazing, do you show them examples of how just a few dollars in cryptos can turn into big bucks? by the way, do they ever come out ahead at the casino?

Sometimes they come out ahead. Most of the time no. They know of the possibilities this world has to offer but since it’s so risky and volitile, they just keep their distance.
