Are Bots Taking Over Steemit? (My Thoughts About The Bots)

in steem •  7 years ago

Some Steemians are enraged and some are just confused about the way voting works on Steemit.  It can be frustrating and hopefully this pool meeting sheds a little bit of insight into what is going on with the votes on Steemit and this also shares my thoughts on the subject as well.

Be a master of the machines!  My pool pump, washing machine, dryer, AC, computers, and microwave are all running right now!

Also during the video I reference Chinese "Click Farms." These can have 10,000+ phones all set up to like and follow people on sites like Twitter and Instagram. People are willing to pay for that so it is big business. Will this happen on Steemit as well?

This issue really needs addressing. These days i can see very few real good steemians welcoming newbies. Almost we have left that work to the bots as every other bot welcomes people to the platform. The difference between the bot and the human is, love and communication ensue and that fets to allow the newbie to stay on the platform. I think there should be a limit to the amount of bots to be created. There should be a lincense board or something to regulate the activities of bots. Else we will all br burried in bots.

There is no way to limit the amount of bots. I'm a bot human hybrid actually. A cyborg of sorts.

SWEET!!!!

That is funny!

yep!! sure is.. lol .. 😂
Great photo of the click farm.. 🤖 🤖 🤖 🤖 🤖

Now we know how come of these insta-hotties get all those clicks so quick!

@brianphobos hahaha yeahhh..

That is funny as all get out. Thanks.

lol

Considering other networks, this is inevitable. But we can prevent or at least try if we are honest members. Of course, a large number of people will try to gain profits regardless of the sustainability of the network.

Well just because some of us are operating bots doesn't mean we aren't honest. If there is money to be made doing so people are going to do it. Things will continue to be automated more and more as time goes on.

From that point of view it's ok to me. But, for example my friends and I always discussing should we make some bot, even for fun, or it's not moral and fair to other users. Now I have no dilemma.

There are coming more bots. If you look at the introduceyourself tag you get like 5-6 bots that welcome you. That's becoming unreal and unnecessary. If there are good services then its valuable (e.g. Minnowsupport) but the bots that aren't needed should go away.

There was an early bot named @wang that basically got rich with a bot that would welcome you. It was pretty crazy.

Interesting post. I believe that bots will be major players here in steemit. They will continue to come. While they can certainly affect voting, rep, and rewards, it's still up to us, real humans to deliver good content and make this a valuable community.

That is very true! Bots have a hard time being funny and artistic!

Did you make your youtube channel just for steemit?

Yeah that particular YouTube Channel is just for Steemit.

ALL IN brother! The future and the bots are here to stay. Embrace it or get left in the dust.

Man, that just opened up my mind a little bit. Thanks.
As a manual user, what do you think is the optimum number of times to upvote and comment per day?

Thanks for the knowledge.

There really is no limit. Until every single person knows you and likes you on this platform your job isn't done if you are trying to make money here and build up a huge account.

Whatever amount of time you have I would just go ham and try to bring home the bacon. That is what I'm doing right now!

I like it legend. Thanks.
I was under the impression that voting too much somehow took away your rewards. I'm still wrapping my head around the system.
So, I'm guessing you don't have a problem with people up voting their own comments?

Well when you vote it does lower your voting power percentage. It is a percentage to influence your own post or other people's posts and comments. It doesn't directly take anything away from you. If you power is pretty low right now. For instance under $0.10. It especially doesn't matter how much you vote. Even if your vote is like mine and worth over a dollar I wouldn't worry about it. I vote so much and so often that I'm not worried about having my voting power real high so that I can pay myself more. By sharing and supporting people I will gain more in the end.

People can vote on their own comments but when someone is only voting their own comments and not even upvoting a post they are risking being flagged. There have been a couple of people who have been doing that.

That makes sense. Thanks for your time to explain. I will be following and learning. Good info.

Cool lots of great advice thanks for sharing.

You are welcome!

Thanks for this! Also I tend to be on the conservative side so this was a good shift of my perception.

No problem. There are a lot of ways to look at things.

Nobody can stop the bots even google is unable to stop them. I wonder if steem implement captcha for voting and commenting. Will it work? what do you think bro? Check some of my cool drawing rooms designs dear.

06.13- lol. No.
You explain bots so well!

I was like is that the terminator behind you? Then saw that urgent title. Then your post to find out about it. great job writing this up @brainphobos
