Laughable STEEM Witness Situation

in steem •  6 years ago

It is funny when one ghost figure basically controls the top 20 witness votes. @aggroed lost the @pumkin / @freedom vote dropping him from 1 to 21. Is anyone still wondering why I say the witness voting has always been a sham here? Here are links to my last two posts calling out the situation.

Does this look like any sort of democracy to anyone? Just a handful of ghost figures circle jerking each other and costing all investors. There are 50 to 60 accounts making real money here and that is it. If you aren't one of them I would seriously consider taking your funds elsewhere.

Hopefully, witnesses aren’t relying on a single voter to pay their bills. It’s actually nice to see things get shaken up once in a while. It just sucks that the top-20/21 doesn’t change much. Maybe I’ll be up there someday! :)

Yeah at least it didn't totally go dormant I guess but I'm not going to worry about it too much. I'm going to de-vest from here and leave a pinkey toe in here just encase.

Maybe @freedom can dip his toes into the @ats-witness approval. That could make things interesting.

Steem needs a voter cap and voter decay in my eyes 🤷🏼‍♂️

STEEM needs like 20 things. It is actually really upsetting. I'm really glad I didn't go a lot deeper on it like some people did. I have lost some in the last 3 months compared to if I would have put that money into EOS but it could be a lot worse.

We both like EOS, let’s keep it in the down low 🤷🏼‍♂️🤣

STEEM is borked. Do you know anything about the EOS social media plans - I think it's called MEOS but havent been able to find out much other than that.

In other news, HyperSpace (previously Synereo) looks quite interesting, and I've noticed a few Steem-heads posting there. It's still very basic, and as far as I know not fully on-chain yet, also light on quality content, but I like the idea of running your own 'Space' and then being responsible for driving traffic and curating quality content.

I talked to Dan at the EOS Hackathon in San Francisco and the main thing he said was they were figuring out exactly how they want to do the key system for it. He didn't give any specific time line but I told him the STEEM community is excited to see what they come up with.

It is hard saying but it could be another 3 or 4 months away. It is tough to tell because they might have wanted to get some underlying improvements made to the EOSIO software first and also they might be trying to figure out if they want to put it on the EOS mainnet and fight for resources out there or if they want to put it on a separate chain all together. He never said any of that but I'm just speculating based on my experience. The advantage of putting it on the mainnet is instant liquidity but the disadvantage is competing for resources with every other DAPP out there which is starting to add up.

Thanks for updating me on HyperSpace. I lost faith in the Synereo team back in 2016 and they keep rebranding and for some reason just keep coming up with a system that seems to just be a tipping app.

Is HyperSpace any different? Is there a reward pool or incentives to hold AMP and upvote others?

I never realized that witness voting is stake-based, meaning if a big stake holder votes you in or out it will make you rise or drop long LOL @brianphobos
I think witness voting must be one person one vote. Oh well life sucks anyway :/

It is a good observation. I personally feel that stake is important in decision making because they would have the most to lose but I think that it should top out at a certain amount. Like everyone over 100K SP would at that point have an equal say so we don't have God Kings ruling the show but that someone wouldn't be able to create thousands of no power bot accounts and rock the vote.

Actually i am still yet to understand much about this witness voting of a thing much and how it works

Well basically the voting doesn't matter much because one person basically dictates the majority of it.

Oh. That is quite bad then

investing? Are you daft?
I've made a fair amount of money here but all that I've invested is my time.
Of course it's a scam. That has been evident since the beginning.
The fun part is that those 'big accounts' are so greedy that they've left some crumbs on the table.

I'll take em.

Hahah, Well I invested a ton of time as well but tried to amplify my influence here. Big mistake. I shouldn't have taken the bait.

If all you've invested is your time...what have you lost?
TV time or funnybook?

I've invested way more than my time here. I powered up 0.5 Bitcoin in late 2017 then ended upside down when the prices collapsed but realized it was going to get worse so I powered my account all the way down to 1000 SP. Then reentered again and powered back up past 10,000 SP with a cost basis of $0.60. Once again I'm upside down and the power essentially does nothing for me and is resting on a sinking ship. I just have to cut my losses and move the funds to other projects that will remain in the top 20 at the very least.

wow

Within 3 months, Steemit will be finished, just like Dan Larimer foresaw:

Didn't realize @aggroed had racked in so much. But he has done a lot for Steemit, imho
