Hey Steemians
So let's take a break from my usual shitposting for one day and talk Steemit for a bit. We're all pretty aware that the Steemit has had the Steem kicked out of it lately with the price dropping below $1. Steemains are leaving or going into hiding, they're posting less frequently, they're visiting less, upvoting less, the morale in the camp needed something to kick it up again.
@stellabelle decided to give it a go with her BANANA PROGRAM: New Steem Project Designed For Bored Humans
which is pretty awesome and I encourage you to enter. It has really brought some life to the feed and a welcomed distraction from all we losing money posts.
Later I found the following really interesting posts about how you would pitch someone to invest in STEEM
- @timcliff - Discussion - What are reasons investors avoid STEEM?
- @intelliguy - What would you say to a potential investor of STEEM?
and it got me thinking what about how we pitch users to start using the STEEM blockchain. From my personal experience it hasn't been easy describing Steemit, its processes and value to a user. The more I use the platform the more I've learned and the better I've gotten at pitching potential users.
But what I would like to know is how have any of my fellow steemians brought others on board.
There is something for everyone
I've found that to ease people into the steem blockchain you need to appeal to what they know in order to transition them into the platform
For example:
- If they like YouTube - Pitch them dTube
- If they like SoundCloud - Pitch them dSound
- If they like Medium to Blog or Facebook to explore content - Pitch them Steemit or busy.org
- If they like Twitter - Pitch them Zappl
- If they like Pinterest - Pitch them dLike
- If they like Reddit - Pitch them Parley.io
- If they like Instagram - Pitch them Steepshot
- If they like Twitch - Pitch them dLive
- If they like 9GAG - Pitch them dMania or Memeit.lol
Take a page out of Jian Yang's book when pitching new users
Once you've sucked them in with the promise that their current user behaviour could be migrated to a platform that pays them in FIM (Free internet money) help them get set up and then eventually introduce them to all the STEEM blockchain has to offer
Who I've recruited
So far I've successfully recruited four people to Steemit and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Feel free to check out their blogs, give them a follow or drop them a comment.
Four sign-ups may not sound like much but its a start. Reach one teach one hey. It was by no means an easy process and took me months to break down their resolve and encourage them to dip their feet into the reward pool just to see how it feels.
Share your origin story
If you have successfully recruited someone to join Steemit or you were recruited by a friend I would love to hear your story. Feel free to share it with me in the comments or if its a really juicy, saucy story create your own post with the tag #steemrecruit, tag me in your post and drop a link in the comments section of this article and let's get sharing

It’s not easy, especially getting that first one to join up! Especially with prices so low, if Steem was at 7 or even 3 dollars it would be easier even though it’s better for new people to get in now

Yeah I think so but there is one exception, this is the lower price times and maybe its a big opportunity to invest. Why not ?

I agree I’ve powered up myself! We may never see these prices for a long time so take advantage

I have been recruited and am now obsessed - thanks @chekohler!! Definitely will use some of Jian's strategy, my techniques have not worked yet! Managed to recruit @fayrosjaffer but his account is quiet as brown bears during hibernation!
