How we could add more security to Steem and log in from everywhere!! [Security]

Hi Steemians,

I recently was working on one of my websites and I had to log in again. I use that really easy tool Clef, maybe a few of you already know that services. It is a login manager for your websites and web services.

What is Clef?

You just download the Clef.io app and create an account.

Here is how it works.

This makes it really super easy to log into my website wherever I am. I just need my phone with me to log in. Clef even has an automatic log out function so that you can log out of a service remotely. A lot of exchanges also started to use Clef for an extra layer of security.

How could Steem benefit from Clef?

What if we could use the Clef.io app to log into our Steem Account and start posting content? Let us say we are at a friends house, or on holiday and want to stay up to date with Steem. Today I have to remember a very long cryptic and inhuman password. I have to carry my KeyPass everywhere. Could we have a system where i can log in easily while being protected?

Here is the tool: https://getclef.com/

What are your thoughts about that? Would you like to have such a security system in place? Leave a comment and upvote!

At Onename you can create an ID on the Bitcoin blockchain. They say they are working on a function, that enables you to log in to applications using this ID. I think this can be an good idea to integrate it in Steemit when this function is fully developed. It will also solve the 'verification' problem.

Here you can read about it: https://onename.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203147432-What-can-I-do-with-my-blockchain-ID-

Yeah maybe that could be a helpful way to access to your Blockchain Bank Account and make a Payment as well? What if you just have to scan a Barcode in a restaurant and you have paid automatically? This technology could be used in many different ways.

Good content... I know the problem that you can't log in from everywhere because of that long password, this is a great solution if it's 100% secure ... upvoted anyways!

Could it be used for a password recovery too? Just thinking loud.... You need to enter a 6 figure PIN for the Clef app.

I checked out the gerclef website and it seems like a good idea. I'd like to hear opinions from folk who are more techy than me about any security implications

Please share the idea. Let us see what we could do with that app.

There's a slight issue with this...

Clef isn't free. It's a centralised login system that costs money. I don't know if it'd even be possible for Steemit to add Clef, being that your mnemonic password is required to generate your keys, not just a message from Clef saying "this person can login".

While it's a great idea, I don't think it could be done without handing over your private keys to a third party, which introduces whole new security risks of it's own.

Yeah handing over your private Key would be an issue. What if you could upload your private key to a user site version? So that you can basically set up your phone and make it into a key?

Классно!!!
