In my opinion, it seems that it is not as simple as you said @maxhodl. Voting only on others' writings can not really get their attention on us, but commenting "yes". May be "content" is not really good, but just because of good relationship n good interaction (from post to post, comment to comment) here, then "vote" will be gained easily.
