Thanks for the input in this. I think you nailed it on the head. I feel a struggle between posting what I want, and posting what would be popular. In a lot of ways I feel like just posting about my day like I would on Facebook or Twitter will be completely ignored. But I desire this to be a place where all types of posts are rewarded, not just the kind of journalist quality.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

    Yeah, as I said, I think as steemit grows, a shorter more personal update will become more common like Facebook and twitter.
    The beauty is that there's so much room to grow through this platform and we are here to see it from the start!
