STEEM - What Difference Does It Make?

I am from Venezuela where the minimum wage is around 5 dollars per month. The problem here is we have a government control that forbids citizens to freely exchange currencies, so the black market rate for a dollar is incredibly high, reducing the purchasing power of the people, because the majority of things here are imported.

So knowing this, you must realize steemit is a blessing for us venezuelans.

What difference does it make in your life? it allows me to first, don’t be poor in my country. By getting good upvotes here I can achieve a good income and gain a little of financial independence. I can more easily go out and eat on a restaurant, or simply saving money. That’s a big difference with regular Venezuelans right now that don’t have savings and are struggling to buy basic food.

What would you do with that money to make your life and your environment better? my life can get better if crypto succeeds and I manage to achieve success here on steemit. Better because I will be able to have a higher purchasing power, get a few savings and maybe in the future be able to make investments. I am hoping to buy new electronics next year. Thanks to steemit and the upvotes I receive

About my environment, I don’t know if you mean things like the nature? But anyways, I am trying to promote steemit to the people that I know to see if they join and can start to get involved in the crypto world, because this could be a good help for them.

I'll be with my boyfriend at Christmas .. We're both college students. We rented a hotel in a nearby sea city and we gave all of our allowance there. we can get a nice red wine with an extraordinary income and Christmas can be more beautiful for us ..

In Estonia for ~200 usd or ~ 165 euro i can pay bill for my apartment ,internet,electricity and mobile phone at winter ( heating cost like 80 % of bill) :) For making life better and my environment i think need to start with my parents for them its extra money to drugs ( they are 60 years old and here pension is like ~ 250 euro per month , so without work its super hard to survive for them , and all drugs and pills cost like in high end european country. )

It make a whole lot of difference, For example in Nigeria, A civil servant is being paid less than 40$ for whole month and most times it doesnt come on time, some times it extends to the following month .

For you it might be just upvotes, but $50 per week can amount up to $ 2400 USD per year. For many people in Africa, this could support them and their families, as it's more than the average annual salary!

i'm an university student in the real life. got a lot of works to do, so having a limited time to present in social medias. i need to pay 820 usd for a semester fee. so, with 50 usd weekly, every month i can collect 200 usd & in the 5th month, it can collect my next semester fee. therefore, i won't ask money from my parents to pay semester fee again. i'm happy about it @cryptoctopus

What difference does it make in your life?

It is very pleasant to read your post, my friend and to realize that there are people for whom someone else's life and destiny is interesting simply from human motives. You are absolutely right, there are countries and people for whom 10 dollars decide a lot and where wish the family can survive all day long, or even more. For me, to be honest, this money will not be critical, but for today too much is too much there will not be and my family will live some more dignified time some time. I'm from Nigeria, Port Harcourt city to be precise, here in the University of Port Harcourt, part tuition fee for a session is about 50USD.

With 50USD, an undergraduate in Nigeria can be sent back to school with part tuition fee paid, this can send one back to class room.

If I receive 50USD in 5days, I will invest the money on promotions, I will get others on board, so they can blog and develop themselves while earning too to improve their standard of living.

Even in the US that can be a significant number. $50 a week is $200 a month. That, if used effectively, is a significant number to add to a debt retirement plan. Or beginning a wealth building plan. Or even just adding it to the grocery budget, it's nothing to sneeze at.

Personally, since I have no debt and I'm on a mission to gain SP, everything I gain gets powered up. I'm hoping for the long game play. Applied to SP, it's nothing to sneeze at there either.

So while it may not be as life changing in Western countries as it can be in others, if used with wisdom, it can still be life changing. :)

its right and i think in usa and canda or some in big countries the 10usd maybe not having so many value but the mostly coutries in world this 10usd having a big vaule many from asia and africa and my parents home town in pakistan i live in terxas with my husbnd but now i m in pakistan with my parents,,, and in pakistan the 10$ are having a big value bcz some of people in labour only get the sellary of whole month 100usd and they having many difficulties to spent this som small sellry in whole month i only save my money from steemit for my daughter and my parents bcz my parents family is middle class and thier are many people who are very poor and i only spent my internet money some saving of my daughter and othrt my parents help...when i sent them money they spent it thierselves and some help others poor pesons who having dont any source of income....i think some riches comunities go to poor countries and make charities and not make only in canda or usa or in these rich countries @cryptoctopus

Good afternoon @cryptoctopus Tell you that here in Peru the cost of living monthly I earn as an employee is $234.37 monthly that is equivalent to earn per day $7.81, so to eat daily spending 3 dollars as we are 4 my mother, 3 Hermaosa and niece. More transports $2.00, apart water, rent of the house, gas, actually at the end of the month I have to do overtime to get more than minimum bracket for me to reach money. With $10.00 to the steemit I could pay the workshop of my niece who wants to study karate now that this on vacation, give my mom his medication that this bad of the bones would alleviate me much the $50 dollars in 5 days, would have a breath of freedom and tranquil Owned

$10 worth of Steem really makes a lot of difference here in Nigeria. With the spike in the price of steem/sbd, if you change $10 to fiat currency you can use it to get enough data to last you for two months.

With $50 I can pay my school fees for a full calendar year. So if I make $50 a week, it will make my studies easier, I won't think about how to get materials to study and settle other issues.

Also with $200 that is if I save for 4 weeks, I could get myself a laptop because right now my laptop is bad.

You hit upon a point I keep making @cryptoctopus.

We simply do not know what condition someone else is in when we upvote them. Personally, I upvote every comment made on my article even those that appear to be nothing more without much effort. Some of them are in extremely poor English and when I look at where they are from, it is from some poorer nation many times.

While not going to the length that you are in terms of each comment, I do give many 30 and 50 cent comments out during the days. Some people are getting 3 or4 of these from me a day which amounts to a fair amount of SBD when it is paid. Like you said, in many countries, $5 or $6 makes a big difference.

As for the answer to your question:

It isnt the difference it would make in my life that is important. In fact, since I joined I have not taken one cent that I earned. Everything that comes in is used to power up.

So the difference it would make is in the lives of all the people I upvote. They are the ones who matter. More SP for me equates to more Voting Power which is a higher upvote total for them.

As for the impact in their lives, we can only imagine who we are helping.

Thank you for sharing this eye-opener for all to see. This is the essence of what the steem blockchain is all about.

I agree. People in Third World Countries value $10 so much more than for example in Australia. I will and already do buy a lot of toys to my nephew, since his parents(my sister and her husband) can not afford to do that. I also donate some funds to relatives, who live in Bosnia, where unemployment is more than 60%. We, who are doing better in life, should be very grateful for that.

Okay as at late this year my fees was kind of shocking on me and I was a little out of cash until @destinysaid introduce me to steemit and paying of that fee never a been problem to me anymore.

Although, sometimes I wished I joined earlier but everything I believe have its time.

With that amount I could get my family a nice gift, together combined with my savings, probably get a new pc as I intend to become fully involve with steemit coming this year and also invite as many other people to join and benefit from this great platform.

My time here on steemit, shows me that human can really be caring when opportunity presents itself and I intend to give back someday, it can be tomorrow or next, but the mean time I will invite as many users as possible and if internet connection ever becomes a problem for them to startup I will try my best to provide with the little I have.

I am not from a third world country. I am better off than many in my own community here in the U.S. However, I certainly am not rich. I live paycheck to paycheck, and sometimes the paychecks don't quite meet in the middle. Obviously, these extra dollars can make a big difference in my life. And it will, but first I have some plans.

Since I am better off than so many, I plan on taking as little from my account as possible until I have enough to carry out my agenda. My aim is to reinvest as much as possible in order to start a few different groups. At this point I will be able to take more from Steemit to supplement my own income.

What groups you ask?

One group will exist to give exposure to Libertarian and Anarchist writers, an anarchist circle jerk if you will. The second group will exist to give support to worthwhile projects here on Steem, such as @airhawk-project, @utopian-io, @minnowsupport, and others. Lastly, (for now) is a project that is perhaps more pertinent to your post today. I'll create a curation group dedicated to giving aid to needy persons. The group will upvote both posts and comments and hopefully make a difference in the lives of many.

In conclusion, Steem will make a mighty difference in my life and hopefully, many others.

Imagine if 10usd make a difference in Canada, what difference it makes to Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, and third wold countries in Africa, and other parts of the world. You definitely make the day of many people with this king of powerful upvotes!

I've been able to purchase 3 oz of silver (3 steemit 2017 silver rounds) thanks to the increased price of steem and SBD. I never thought I was going to be able to afford one, let alone 3 2017 rounds, but thanks to Phelimint.com accepting steem and SBD I was able to afford 3.

Also, thanks to increased price and earnings I was able to talk with my in-laws about the importance of crypto and were very impressed with the amount that I've earned from steemit even though it's only been $1000 to this point.

With the current price of sbd I will say if I can receive $50 for comments from you it will go a long way, I just did a rough calculation and it will amount to around 60,000 naira over here in Nigeria. This money can take care of my family feeding for a whole month and we are about 7 in my family.

In my country 10$ is worth a lot. With 50$ a week you can support more famillies with that money. Because people here doesn't have much money and things are cheaper. But the best part is if you hold that steem or sbd it will be much more worth in my opinion. In that case this 50$ could potentialy feed villages and help 3rd world countries to stand on their feet. We would not need karitas or unicef anymore. Steem could help a lot. A few steem or sbd and instant transaction to local people. It could be used for teaching local people how to make sufficient way of living so they don't need to ask developed countries for help anymore.

Without contention, an extra 10 USD daily for one week could make a huge difference here in Nigeria.

In the area where I live and almost every part of the country gas prices have skyrocketed due to a sharp increase in demand for the holiday season and officials seem not to be in control.

As it stands, this price increase could linger for some time more especially as long as the holiday season lasts.

As a steemian in this part of the world who wants to have the best of vacations this season, gas is very essential to make my dream come true.

With 10 USD daily, Ha! My vac is on it's way to being one that never saw power outage.:)

Seriously as an individual living in a 3rd world country, If I can get 50$ in a week just from comments it would go a long way I must say, I can take care of my tuition fees and everything that has to do with my school with just that money, There would be enough money remaining to take care of my accommodation and also feeding. 50$ is a huge amount of money over here I must say.

I live in Ukraine. I'm middle-aged teacher. I get a small pension, but I still work a little with the pupils.
It is important for a teacher to look good. I'll be able to dress well with $ 50 a week.
To teach my pupils well, I must be energetic and healthy. I'll be able to buy healthy good food with $ 50 a week!

I'm from a small town in Ukraine.
My monthly pension is very small, about 50 dollars.
Steemit is a blessing for me, by getting good upvotes I will not be poor in my country!
I will be able even achieve financial independence.
With $ 50 a week I will be able to buy not only basic food and basic things, but also buy toys, books and fruits for my grandchildren, I have seven of them!
And I will be able even to help people around me with $ 50 a week!

I am a father of 4 kids, My main problem is better study of my kids. bcoz there in pakistan study is very costly. in govt schools teachers take no interest but they have intrest only on their salary. and in private schools study level is better but their feeses are out of range a common man like me. 50$ per week is handsome value for expenditure of 1 kid in pvt school. and my tention about the study of my kids removed if i got 50$ per week.

According to Today's assignment $50 makes following things in my life

1- It will make me financially Strong
2- It will make me happy both sociologically and economically
3- i will manage to pay my Fee to doctor for my check up
4- I will do some charity to needy people around me ( i know a boy whose father is dead)
5- i will try to spend some money to make my Street Clean
6- I will definitely go for a one day trip out of my city

As for as the difference in life is concerned Money makes your life easy in many ways. It gives you mental peace and makes you more composed towards life.
I am a sociologist and I have noticed money brings smile on the faces of poor. Money has nothing to do with Creed Caste or Color. In this age Money is creating happiness everywhere. Same goes with me

First of all, the major difference will be that I have money.
I'm Nigerian, a student and have no other source of livelihood apart from my parents. I don't own a car, extra 10$ a day will help facilitate my movement, subscribe my data plan and feed me.
Basically it'd make me feel independent for like 2 weeks.

Plus I have political ambitions at school, a whole 50$ will go a long way in my campaign.

Well it would seem like nothing to you sir but to me in Nigeria it means a whole lot. With $50 I would be able to buy a whole lot of text oops needed for my academic session.

I am not from a wealthy family and so try as much as possible to find for myself in anyway I can and steemit has been a saving grace for me and I think knowing you has made it even better. With $50 I can also feed properly over here and get all the basic items I need and even have spare to send to my younger brother who is also in school like me.

I could also send some to my parents because I know they don't have much and being the first son in NY family, at this point it is my responsibility to actually cater for then having trained me up till this very point in my life.

I must say that $50 is a whole lot of money to me and it would change my life in a way you won't be able to envisage.

Down here in Nigeria, where I have to do some extra curricular jobs to make ends meet as a student, it hasn't been easy.

Such an Upvote can pay my school fees for a session, it's a Federal University, it can really go a long way to make life easier.

$10 here would do quite a lot.
As a student in my final year, $10 would cater for my upkeep for about a week or two. It could also cater for some educational needs like; photocopy of materials, printing of online notes, and settling of some compulsory academic dues.
Finally, $10 would buy me a new multimeter which is a major equipment needed for my final year project and some other extra equipment.
Here in Nigeria, $10 means quite a lot for the common student.

Well, for me it means a lot...coz as a mother of two , $50 could be a great help for us to survive, to lighten my financial burden. That could help us to buy my baby's food since he likes eating a lot as he gonna turn 2 soon. My first born who is 10 needs to continue his vitamins/supplement coz he is not gaining weight. I try to be an active member of steemit to earn extra income while learning lots of things. For once I'm not working when you make a post, Yay!

Admittedly $50 USD a week isn't much where I am, but I'm working on setting everything I can aside for a move. Right now I'm living in a studio apartment in a 200 year old house, that the landlord insists we should be paying around $600 USD a month to live in, with massive holes in the walls, a closet of a bathroom with no vent fan, and the bats that crawl through the walls into the hall and living-room don't pay their fair share of rent!

On the light end of that goal I'm hoping to get into a nicer place that isn't such a potential hazard, but if I can make the impossible happen, and move down south to where my family is, that is certainly the goal I WANT to aquire.

If I ever really make it on steemit, you have set a wonderful bar for what should be the norm among those of the community, and I hope to be able to be as much of an actor in peoples lives as you have managed to be.

I live in a small city where it is almost impossible to find a job and if you find that a payroll fee will be from 7000 to 10,000 thousand rubles in dollars it is 200 $. Well, living in New Jersey, the cost of living here is rivaled only by New York and California. So that $200 would most likely be out aside for savings or pay down some CC debt from the holidays.

My car was recently paid off (thanks crypto), so that payment plus the new $200 would really help build a chunk of change for a down payment on a new apartment, or be set aside for an initial down payment on a house, if my move to a cheaper state becomes a reality.

Of course I could put some of the money back into my podcast or crypto, or simply use it for small monthly vacations (you can do Iceland in a weekend).

This is a wonderful way to look at things! See the perspective from which other people are coming at things, and how much this platform, and this reward system can mean to them! Yeah, here in The US $5 isn't much, so as nice as a $5 upvote is for me to get, it doesn't change my life. But some people on here, it can be the difference between feeding their family or not.

I hope you have the opportunity to reward a lot of people for whom your upvote can be a big difference in their ability to make a living!

You really put stuff into perspective. Seeing the value of Steem go up every few days gives everyone hope of being able to do what they love, be able to post it, and make money off of it. But once you take into consideration that people in some countries could really benefit more with the extra Steem makes me want to really go out there and find new content to give them a boost.

For me the answer is an easy one, and that’s reinvest it directly back into this amazing community. What I think goes overlooked a lot in life is the attention to details. Every upvote counts. Wow $50USD . I am sure you have no idea how much it is where I come from. If I can be getting $50USD every week, Firstly I would start saving so that when it is time for me to go to college which is in a few months time, I will give it to my Parents so that I can go to a good school with good educational standard.
Secondly, around where I leave there are homeless people, beggars and the needy, so if I get the money, starting from now that we are in the festive period I will give them a treat, either by buying food and accessories for them or taking them out or something.

Let's say I were to upvote your comment 5 times a week at a value of $10US for a total of $50 USD a week...What difference does it make in your life? What would you do with that money to make your life and your environment better?

Here in the Philippines, $50 in one week is considerably a huge sum of money. It can buy my family a festive feast for New Year's Eve celebration, with some slices of "Lechon" (which is a favorite food for fiestas). It's our tradition to always have our "grandest" family dinner during New Year's Eve. It's also a healthy competition for us 4 siblings wherein we prepare a dish we'll serve on the table. With this extra budget, we can buy a more variety of ingredients for more innovation in the dishes we'll prepare.

I'm thinking of just buying different ingredients without any dish in mind, and with that, we can invent a dish. There's always room for failures in the family, and the process of sharing tips and lending a helping hand in slicing the onions, carrots and etc., is what makes this traditional event very memorable and special for us.

It's also a time wherein despite our "separate" lives, we can come together and bond as a family -- just like the old days where we were just kids. It's pretty nostalgic, and I won't trade anything for an experience and memory such as this.

I just got inspired writing this, so I prepared this to give a feel of my story.

I don't know about others but it will make a huge diffrence in my life. My father is retaired for years. I am his only child. Bow he can not provide me everything i want. and now the time has come to me to do something of my own. I joined steem 3 month back. then the usd was not this much high againts sbd but now it is. then i didn't take it sceriously. but now i am taking it sceriously and the money i am geting from you guys by commenting and creating conten is not that much but i can mange it for myselfe. I am thinking of taking steem as my carier. cause the USD is much high againts hour currency. with USD 10 I can buye myslef a shrit can have lunche with four people and also can take some money to home. so it is huge. right now i have not in the situation to contribute to the enviorment. but if i can stable my income I will try my level best to wrok against water polution. cause i belive most of the diseases are comes from water. so that was me and my plan. thanks for give us the opertunity to earn some money through comenting in your post. god bless you and your familly.

Hi @cryptoctopus ..i am from india iam doing a small job of salary 8000 indian rupees means 120 usd $ per month that means 4$ per day..it is not sufficient to survive with comfert life... i faced lot of problems in my life for money and i did a so many online jobs but did not get any thing after that my friend told me about the steemit .. i really shocked and surprised when show the earnins of top users and sbd value is above the 10 $ ..really it is a very useful for every one who want financial stability...if you give a 50$ vote per weak to my comments .it is a very very helpfull to full fill my economical needs..i will take better food and get a small comfort what i dont have now..it is a very very helpfull to me

I want to see my city and the citizens smiling the way i saw public on this christmas eve. We have an organisation where we mutually collects few bucks and make arrangement for the food and improves the condition of shelter we provided to them. Already i am using aa my payouts for that and any increase in my payouts will result in faster improvement of the people who come here hungary.

I am glad to hear how Steem can change lives in 3rd world countries. It really shows the value of cryptocurrency. For my use of $50, it won't be a heart wrenching storytelling , but I think it allows a good general consensus of diverse backgrounds and circumstances;

If I received $50 a week from Steem, I would probably just cash out the SBD and send the Steem back to power up. Or use it to pile up on altcoins. $50 is great to have but not life changing in the U.S. Money doesn't motivate me on this platform; rather the passion does for the content and enjoying others' content. In theory, if I was truly motivated by money, the many hours I spent writing my blog, I could've made thousands of dollars even just working a part-time job (even for minimum-wage) to supplement my day job; so I could more productively used my time. The reality is many in the U.S. could find a way to make hundreds more a week if they really desired it and actively seek it out(I.E Uber, etc).

Let's say I decided to do eventually cash out this hypothetical Steem to fiat, it would allow me to get more groceries (or higher quality items) every week but, definitely not life's nessecities.

Let's say I were to upvote your comment 5 times a week at a value of $10US for a total of $50 USD a week.

$50 - 25% = 37.5 (Net Author Reward)

37.5/2 = 18.75 SBDs

Current SBD price = $9.35

18.75 * 9.35 = $175.31

$1 = PKR 111

So, 175.31 * 111 = PKR 19,459

After getting 18 years of education in accountancy, I am able to earn PKR 50,000 in a month and I can earn 39% of my total monthly salary from your 5 upvotes :)

Okay, I look like a beggar now but I'm not, I am happy with what I have, just documenting the facts :)

Hi @cryptoctopus, this is my first comment in your blog. I just found you out yesterday. I was rather skeptical when I was asked to join steemit 3 months ago. I hesitated and could not believe it could change anything in my life as it is. But after being persuaded consistently to do so, I think "Okay I will try this one blogging platform." I never blog my entire life, let alone talking with strangers. My FB was confined to my friends and family only. On top of that I had never believed that blogging can actually make money. It was in my ultimate dream to work from home, which means I can spend more quality time with my family. Now I spend 12 hours in office, plus traffic jam means only few hours left to spend with my family.

To answer your question. Generating good steady income stream from steemit is now my goal so that I can work my way towards working from home so that I can see my kids growing up in front of my eyes and visit my father more. Aside from the dollar earning point, I have found my niche here. I will continue to spread kindness and positivity among steemians. That's my key writing subject now. Good day, i am from the Philippines. $10 is around 500 Php, where in this is how much our minimum wage earner is paid a day of work. Enough to feed a family of 5 for the whole day.

What difference does it make in my life?
This amount can get me a vacay for 2 in a beqch for 3 days and 2 nights.
This could help me get more SP to upvote other people's posts.
But steemit has been good to me this year so if i would be the one chosen, i will share this to those in need here in our country, which brings me to this next question

What would you do with that money to make your life and environment better?
I always want to give to charity or spend my birthday helping others like feeding some homeless, street children or organizing a feeding program to sick kids or people with disabilities. That is always a part of my bucket list. This amount could get a long way. I could also donate the amount to typhoon Urduja (international name Kai-Tak) victims. Or i can work with my fellow steemians and we can organize an event to help those in need.

This is great initiative and i salute you sharing your blessings to other people. More power to you and your blog and hope you can help more people!

I understand you, I had a fight with some spammers on the introduceyourself tag. Well, to answer your question, for me 50 dollars a week, it is something now that I think about it. I was luck on the other side.

I live in a country called Romania, it is an east european country, where the minimum salary (which my parents have) is around 300$ a month (after it got pretty fast increasd from around 225). This is what parents had when they have sent me to college. And I had my economies of 1000$ which I managed to save all my time until I got 18 years (I was working after school and helped people for few money). That was my money for the college, but thwy have another story. When I say that I got lucky I mean that my parents supported me to go to the college. There I have worked hard to get employed as a software developer which I did over two years after starting the college. I payed myself the remaining half of the college,including my rent and food. I started to become independent. Now I am getting close to three years since I work at the same company, I got promoted and I earn a bit more than double the both salaries of my parents together. But this is still an average salary even in my country. Here are a lot of poor people and just a few very rich which is not fair at all since most of the rich here have not build their success on legal and fair business, but the corruption of the system is another topic. Right now 50$ a week you see that for me do not mean that much as they would make a difference as for people as my parrents who could afford better food. I guess if I had that money (I could take a part of this sum, at least, from Steem right now, but I think holding and powering up are better options) I think I will be using that money to buy an apartment and pay the credit from the bank and stop staying in a rented house. But I don't deserve that money since for me they don't make a lifesaving difference, as I said, I got lucky (I think?). I know there are countries much poorer than Romania which needs your help. Congrats for the good initiative, I totally respect it!

I am a waiter who spends most of my day working at a restaurant. I manage to come home several times during that day to take a quick break and post on my blog. I've been doing this since March.

Work, run home.... back to work. Work, run home..... back to work.

My goal is the same as anyone's goal.

...... to become rich in cryptocurrency and also to become successful on steemit.

I'm doing pretty well on Steemit at this point.

I love to blog and I love the community, and I especially love to write fiction stories.

Would an extra $50 a week make a difference to me? It would mean that I could take a shift off of work and that would mean a lot given that I don't actually have any days off and I work 7 days a week.

Having said that..... I think there are many people that could use the money more than I could.

Therefore I will state that I'm not interested in winning anything here. I hope you give your weekly vote to somebody that needs food for their kids or something like that.

I've been a longtime follower of yours but this is the first time I've ever been able to post within the first 10 minutes.

You are such a great human being. I come from Mexico and 50usd is a lot considerating that our slaries are so low. You can eat for 1 month or also paying your rent it depends where in Mexico you are living. Im so happy to be part of this community because I can be inspire by people like you who helps others. In the future when I set up in Yucatan Mexico and I can afford my piece of land I want to create a space where people can go to connect with theirselves and the nature, where we will grow our own food and we will live in a sustainable way. In Denmark the minimum wage is 110 kr equal to around 18 USD or 22 CAD. Compared to other countries it is quite a lot. We do however have extremely high taxes (first you pay 8% and afterwards you pay 38% or more of the rest). There is a no-tip policy and rent is super expensive. If you want to have a normal apartment for two people in the city where I live you can easily get to pay 1800 USD as a couple - before utilities. Therefore as a student, as you might have guessed, 50 USD would make a big difference for me. I would be able to actually take my boyfriend out for a meal (not a nice one, but just being able to go out would be really nice), which I've been wanting to do for a long time :-)

What would you do with that money to make your life and your environment better?

Honestly saying that will not change my life. It will be just a big compliment that I can use to gain more Steem Power or play with it on exchanges.

But there are a lot of people for whom such a sum will be a real chance to improve their life. For example, as I know the average salary in India is something about $150. And your upvotes worth $50 in a week ($200 in a month).

Any amount of money is a lot to me. I haven't had a job since 2006. People ask me how I survive. I said I have. Not having a car anymore, don't have to pay for gas. I do things online to try to earn some money. I used to spend money not to wisely when I was younger. Now that I'm older, I think hard before I buy things. I think about what kind of overall value it will give me.

I'm trying to save up right now to buy a decent graphics card to Bitcoin Mine with. I've been CPU mining since 2013. A new graphics card would make a world of difference on the crypto income.

Brother, I live in Bulgaria, the normal wage is 220$ per month. Most people here struggle with financial issues, that's one of the reasons I'm placing my hopes and creative energy into steemit. This platform gives me hope in self development and making some money.

100$ Rent (If living alone).
Rest goes for food.

Food price is the same as UK/US but in BGN.

There is a saying here " Do you know where Bear Grillz can't survive?" "In Bulgaria with a Minimal Wage". Haha :D

Being in UK showed me that people are living a dream, buying food in bulk, having a lot of different meals per day, that's something you don't get in the homeland.

Also knowing that my Government has 3 billion in crypto that it Seized from people makes me pissed, they closed down all the bank accounts of people that owned exchanges and took their money.

Our Governemnt is Trying to kill us, its trying to make us slaves. I'm discussed of how people suffer and they don't even realize it. It makes me want to burn government Buildings, yet I cant indulge in that due to my Loving Spiritual nature.

I don't care much for the up votes, there are others that have a bigger need for them, I know I can do good here on this platform, not because I'm greedy, but because I see hope for people, hope for myself.

That would be around R$300,00 a week, R$ 1200,00. In 5 months R$ 6000,00...

I gotta say, that would be a pretty good money to get ready for the expenses that will arrive with a newborn in 5 months.

Its been though days, since i got unemployed. Bad market for construction and no one hiring.

Luckly for me,i have a beloved wife, that can provide for both of us on these bad times, and she is the one that lift my spirit to keep on fighting that something good will happen.

And i think she is right. I have a good feeling for next year, and maybe my one-man contruction company lift off.

In these bad days, i also realized that i have no right to complaim about money. I do have a good life with enough comfort.

Middle of the year, we joined a group of friends that once a month go around the town at night giving away food, water and blankets to those who live on the streets.

No institutions, no big donations, only a group of friends taking a bit from what we had to give some hope to those who have nothing.

With that money, my first priority would definetly be to save it for my future child. 25 dollars a week invested in a pretty low risk saving accounts can generate an huge amount of money supporting him in doing whatever he/she reach 18-21 years old.

The other half i would direct to that group of friends, so we could keep on giving some small hope to those in need.

Currently I am using steemmit as a kind of social platform and some source of news about all kind of crypto news.
Living in Europe so just cant image that people in less developed countries will profit much more.
In fact crypto can gave them a chance to a eco system where they can access it at any time at any place without the need to have a social number, insurance or credit status.
I am currently stacking my small portions and will decide in 2,3 years what I will do with them

Wow, it is a real eye-opener to read perspectives from such a variety of countries, where the same amount of money could mean such different lives for some, but be just a drop in the bucket for others. I had no idea there was this much economic disparity in the world.

Here in NZ, USD50 currently equates to about NZ70, and for those on a low income it would make a bigger difference, naturally, to those in the upper or even middle income brackets. Personally, unless I had some urgent bill to pay I would rather take than money and reinvest it in Steem so it could continue to work for me and help towards any large goal that I have set for myself and my family. Having the funds work over and over instead of disappearing into a single purchase, such as a restaurant dinner, makes much more financial sense to me after having been budget-conscious for a long time; and this is something I try to instill into my children so they become financially wiser than I ever was. :)

In Greece of the economic crisis, where people get about 500 euros/month (600$) to work 48 hours/week an extra 50$ (40euros) could make a difference. They could pay for your super market, or your child's language school (cause we have to pay private schools for that), or your car loan, or half your rent. Our survival does not depend on those extra 160 euros/month, but this money are surely welcome and lots of people would count on it.

But in Venezuela, where average monthly salary runs about 1.7 STEEM at current prices, 1 SBD worth 7.8 USD means BsF 780,000 which is almost twice the minimum basic salary.

You could not do much with it, but at least you can buy some food for a month of living.

Venezuela is under Communist Socialist Hyperinflationary forces where even Managers do not make more than 4 SBD a month, but Food Prices measured in USD are higher than international prices and grow at least 2 digits inflation a month.

That is why I called Steemit, in one of my post: The Truly Liberator of Workers in inflationary economies.

Since publishing that article I have been marketing Steemit heavily.

Well, I am blessed and cursed with an excess of creativity and levity... It's a blessing, to take my asperger's traits and utilize the good parts... To write novels, record albums of music, draw endless cartoons, teach myself video animation... I truly follow my bliss...

But it's also a curse because I was born without the marketing gene... I have somehow never been able to put my ideas in front of the right eyes or ears! Never found a publisher, agent, or venture capitalist to help me get some earth-saving projects off the ground... See, it it another autism trait, that I am really bad or awkward in social situations... I take everything literally and can't do smalltalk for the life of me... That has led to chronic unemployment, being supported by family who can't do it forever... It worries me...

Your upvotes would be nice, and I would build my thing here into something that could model creativity and integrity to other steemit users... Although what I could really use is a benefactor to invest in me, a producer... And I wouldn't say these things, if I didn't have 25 years of developing my artistic voice...

Interesting thoughts. If I made an extra $10 dollars a day I would keep doing the same thing I do with almost all my steemit earning. Power up! I have a good job right now but really would like to go off on my own one day. I feel like blockchain is the way to do that. Steemit and masternodes are my goals for 2018!

Once I'm off on my own the biggest change I look forward to is more time with my kids!! Seriously that is the main objective in wanting more free time. I want more time with them. Tons of work to get there. Trying to do more and more each day.

The coolest part about steemit is I can help people along the way. I should do more of that.

To us in Nigeria, 50USD is a big amount, we earn about 50USD as minimum wage for a month here. The cost of internet is expensive here too, there are many people who don't blog daily because of no internet data.
If i get this money, I will use it to buy unlimited internet access, which i will make open for members of my environment to connect and access the internet.

I live in the states and have a great job, an extra $50 dollars a week wouldn't go very far, but it would take some pressure off. Raising a baby, having a mortgage, and trying to eat healthy are all small problems compared to some on here. They could use your vote more than me, I'm just here to take part in this great community and start blogging(I've been putting it off).

There are so many people on steemit and even more people not yet here who could benefit from this and other cryptocurrencies that are looking to provide a universal basic income like the coin @taskmaster4450 manna:

Personally as a student.
Making 50 $ a week would be as though making a month salary of a civil servant as the minimum wage as of now is 50.040$ here in Nigeria.
As if that's not enough, The education standards keeps getting higher, as such making education pretty hard for the masses.

Well sir, @cryptoctopus , as a newly admitted student of the university... 50$ would actually go a loooong way in setting me up academically and financially.

I really admire what you are doing and it delights me to see your big heart in this. Giving is more refreshing when you give to someone who might never be able to repay you. Thank you for this.

What difference will it make in my life?
I am from Nigeria, $1 = 370 naira (local currency), so $50 a week would give me 18,500 naira which when multiplied will give me twice my salary. It will enable me to get the desired financial stability i need to increase my farming business from the small scale it is currently because bank rates here are not advisable for small scale businesses.

What i will do with the money to make my life better and my community

I love agriculture and i deal with laying birds and also broilers. I do fruits planting too. It will increase my capacity for more birds acquisition and also in a little way benefit my local community with easy access to eggs which they go extra miles to get and also create employment as i can employ someone or two in the distribution of eggs which will improve their standard of living too in addition to whatever they are doing too.

Of course I could now list all the great things I might do with an extra $50 a week but to be honest my first concern is always to provide for my family and pay rent and food. That means that I would first calculate how much of that would pay for my basic living costs to create a stable and healthy environment for my family. ($50 a week would cover about a third of what I need here in Costa Rica).

Then, with all additional income I can start planning for all the glorious Steem projects that come to mine. I guess for me the best thing I can do is giving back by creating more and better video tutorials with the best tech to make life easier for the flood of new Steemians who are about to stream in.

I would keep $10, and spend $40 marketing Steemit to People of my Country so they can benefit, too. Currently I am burning somewhare 2 or 3 SBD on this project.

With $10 I can give it to my wife, so that she quit her job and start Steeming. She makes half to it, right now.
