I would like to share some important news related to the SMTs launch, SMTs are now live on the testnet and is expected to launch on mainnet in the early 2020. 
What are SMTs ?
SMT stands for the abbreviation of Smart Media Token, SMT are the smart digital assets which can be launched by anyone on the Blockchain to help monetize the user's content creation and curation. SMT's have build in 'Proof-of-brain' properties as compared to the Ethereum's erc20 tokens.
What are the benefits
- It will allow encouragement in the users to create content even more
to help grow the platform. - Zero transaction fee will allow to put a stop on advertisement culture.
- Users can use the tokens to fundraise the initial coin offerings (ICO's)
Battle tested SMTs
- Steem is battle tested with other platforms, it's a zero-fee Blockchain, which have even more transactions per second than Ethereum and Bitcoin.
- As a non-techie, users can focus on content creation rather than focusing on the development of Blockchain.
