We lost the Netcoin Listing Contest, but not to Verge nor PAC Coin...

in steem •  6 years ago

Hello Steemians! This is yet another post on the Netcoins listing contest. I didn't have the time to follow what was going on today and I to my disbelief, we lost to a project named INS. When I looked at the contest page, it is already showing the following notice:

However, from @gduran's post, I get to learn that we ended with 21815 votes and INS won with 22856 votes.

INS's sudden surge of 10000 votes within a day sure is quite unbelievable. Of course many of us are speculating that they have cheated, but let's not be sore-losers and take a look at the project.

INS is working on a platform named INS Ecosystem. Through the platform, users will be able to purchase consumer products from manufacturers directly. This means that the platform has the potential to challenge online retailers like Amazon or Alibaba, which sounds interesting. The INS token can be used for payment on the platform and they also serve as loyalty points for manufacturers to offer directly to customers.

Time will tell if they have cheated, but for now, let's congratulate them on their win 😄. Honestly, for a platform boasting to have more than 50000 active users, we should have done way better. And we only have ourselves to blame for not being able to win this hands-down.

Anyway, in my earlier post, I promised to give out 5 SBI shares to the 3 closest guess as to how many votes we will get in the end. The winners are,

Though STEEM didn't win the listing contest, your votes and participation should still be rewarded. The nice thing here is that we got way higher votes than all the guesses. With the end of the listing contest, the SBI shares have also been sent out.

Thanks for reading! What are your thoughts on the contest outcome? Do you think STEEM could have done better? Do give me a follow/upvote if you like what I am doing.

It is not all lost. INS for sure used voting farm and cheated. They have a very small community and nowhere in earth, they can manage 22K human votes. And, One can't use a vote farm to beat another vote farm. A Steem whale easily could have bought 10K votes.

If Netcoins review is fair (which they promised and reduced votes for VERGE and PACCoin earlier), then STEEM will be winner.

Thanks for sharing this info. I know there are ways to buy votes but didn't research further. INS sudden surge is indeed dubious. Let's see what happens in the end.

damn, I missed that. wanted to vote but checked too late. I think there are many minnows angry too. hope there will be another chance where steemians organize a lil better so everyone will vote. s. error

We won in the end! Now sit back, relax and wait for the listing. At the same time, SteemFest is coming too. Many things to look forward to

Hello @culgin. Thanks for keeping to your promise. But me like this that predicted 8,250. PLease I need a consolation. 2 SBI share would do. AM just speaking for myself ooo. May I use the SBI to remember the October 2018 netcoins voting. Thank you in advance. Follow your heart though

Congratulations to @peachyladiva @richgang and @ahmanik

Sorry my friend. I'm unable to give out more. Watch for more of such contests in the future. I do conduct giveaways from time to time. Thanks for support once again

Good day @culgin! Let's say honestly before this marathon contest I didn't heard about Netcoins. But I think that @oracle-d would not initiate this vote call for something worthless of our attention. Also till the last day I was sure that we will. But unfortunately INS appeared from nowhere and immediately at the first place. So my first question how they did it?
Now let's don't forget that active part of Steem community voted several times for STEEM from here I have my second question
Is it was bots false voices or something else?
And finally even after our second place I believe that STEEM is the best one and it's the main thing!

It is indeed odd how INS came from behind to win it in just 1 day. But I won't speculate. I think Netcoins will do their due diligence to remove fake votes if there are any.

Thanks for reading and your comment!

There is something very dodgy if INS are allowed to win this competition. Looking at all the other coins and communities who couldn't manage 10k votes all week and they suddenly get them in a few hours....???
Nope.

It's certainly weird how they did it. But INS do have 15k members on their Telegram channel, so I won't just conclude that they are cheating. Let's wait for the final outcome next week

I'm still hopeful that the final count back will change things. To be honest i don't think it will really matter for anything really it's more the principle of the thing and the achievement of winning as a group.

We won! Haha.. those dubious votes from INS were not counted I supposed.

Looks that way anyway. We won't complain it's always nice to get the win.

shit and i make a post speculating 9k of votes :P i could have won here!

Anyway, i really think they cheated, they get basically in half a day or night around 10+k of votes. First of all i don't think they had an audience like that cause the numbers would be greater earlier. Secondly, even if they promote it in different forums the change of votes or the increase if you like would be spread more "evenly" not just in 12 hours double the amount or even triple of their 5 days in total votes.

All in all i think that if they win something fishy was going on since the beginning and netcoins have something to do with it, so i honestly think we won. If the outcome would be a loss from Verge i would be totally ok cause each we were in neck to neck and it seemed more "real" even though at the end of the day many votes that they received cancelled

Yes, it is fishy. Verge is among the top 100 coins and have a strong supporter base. Hence, I can fully understand if they won. But for INS... It is truly odd how they can gather so many votes in the last few hours

Personally, I don't think it really matters if Netcoins list Steem or otherwise.. From what I gather, they aren't even top 100 of the biggest exchanges around by volume. There's no reason for them to be cocky about which coins to list...

While the support from the community is honestly quite underwhelming (we now know the level of user apathy for most people), I feel that this effort could have been spent on more useful initiatives.. There are other things than voting for Steem to get listed that may help Steem better in the long run..

Maybe i should expand my points more on a post....

Sure, thanks for your comments. I think it is going to be beneficial as Netcoins a direct fiat to crypto exchange. Much like Coinbase and Coinhako. Though it is not among the top 100 exchanges, being listed on a direct fiat to crypto exchange means something

It is also a litmus test of the strength of our community. If we can't even gather people to do simple tasks like this, what's there to talk about in the future of Steem? :)

Did a little reading about Netcoin, apparently they operate Crypto ATM in Canada and US... Well, at least it's not that useless.. I highly doubt crypto ATM is that impactful in a first world country though.. They pretty much service only the poor, which we will find more in third world countries (like Malaysia or Nigeria). Baby steps i guess.

As for what you said, Sadly that is true about the community.. Or perhaps it's a demonstration of the 1% rule. Even in a platform where people are paid to take part, the age old law is unbroken.

Steem really is the microcosm of the real world.. Do shit, get micro famous, get money. Or create super awesome shit. People who complain about lack of upvotes to their lunch pictures are missing the whole point.

Haha.. yeah. I think many people are still treating Steem as a social network or a blogging site. Not realizing the true potential of it being a platform for something greater

We lost to INS, didn't know it.

Posted using Partiko Android

Nah, we won.. INS engaged in bots and got their votes pruned.

Awwn
Thanks @culgin
