Thanks @timcliff this has been so useful for a starter. From what I gather you need to purchase from one site, then convert on another site then send over to your steemit account - did I get it? Your posts are awesome - thanks again!!

    Pretty much.

    1. Buy BTC, LTC, or ETH (from a site like coinbase)
    2. Use BlockTrades.us to buy STEEM with the BTC/LTC/ETH and send to your Steem account.
