After Bittrex redesigned its site and announced to reopens new customer registrations on Tuesday, April 10th there have been some issues with transactions for us Steemians.

I tried yesterday to withdraw some Steem and SBD to my Steemit account but every time I clicked on withdraw I got this message saying that my address must be at least 10 characters long.

SBD

After a few tries I contacted the Bittrex support and asked them what the issue is because a few days before I had no problem withdrawing and sending SBD to my Steemit account with the same address or name (danyelk).

It didn't take them long for an answer and I got this mail from Bittrex saying that they are aware of the issue I reported and that they currently do not have an ETA as to when this issue will be resolved. They continuing to collect data on the new site, and they regularly review all reported and known issues for future releases.

So it looks like that Steemians with a name or address shorter then 10 characters can't withdraw Steem or SBD from Bittrex to there Steemit account at the moment and who knows for how long.

It would be very nice if one of you with a name or address longer then 10 characters can try to withdraw some Steem or SBD from Bittrex to your Steemit account and let us know if it worked.

Edit post:

Thanks to @metalmag25 there is a solution! When you want to withdraw your STEEM/SBD from BITTREX, if your username is lower than 10 characters, you can put your username, and then pulse the Space Tab as many times you need to complete the 10 characters needed to valid your withdraw.

I just tried it and it worked perfect!

I also got a second mail from the Bittrex support in which it says "This issue is currently in the process of being fixed by our development team and should be fixed soon."

Edit post April 18, 2018

Got an mail again from Bittrex saying that the issue is solved.

A short interview with Dr. Mark Baker, CEO and founder of MediChain, the Medical Big Data Platform, a blockchain solution for storing and distributing medical data. The platform is designed to help patients regain control over their own medical information, facilitate the secure exchange of medical records and strengthen the protection of sensitive data from hackers. Dr. Baker has a background in cancer research and is a specialist in big data. He believes that MediChain will be a breakthrough medical research tool that could gain access to wider data and more comprehensive data sets.

Mr. Backer, what has ever led you to cancer research?

Dr. Mark Baker: I wanted to work in an area that has a huge impact and can make a big difference to the world. Cancer is obviously a disease that affects millions of people and is one of the leading causes of death from disease. I have been looking for a systematic, rather mathematical approach that can make a difference to a large number of people, and cancer research seemed to fully meet those criteria.

How did you start working in the field of data science?

Dr. Mark Baker: The impact people have on the world is based on a very limited set of mental tools. What are these tools? We have the logic that enables us to make decisions that are separate from our own feelings. We have mathematics that allows us to understand things that go beyond our understanding of human nature. Data Science is an application of mathematics and logic on a large scale. We're just entering an era where we have the techniques of using mathematics in medical science, which we call data science today. Due to the stochastic nature of the data, it has not been possible to do such revolutionary things in medicine as in the 19th century in physics. This leads us to a simple answer. We have to approach from another direction, and Data Science is how we do it.

How did the two areas get together? Did you start in one area and then move to the other area? How did this development come about?

Dr. Mark Baker: Well, I started working on the computer when I was nine. My dad was a lecturer in electrical engineering, and to keep me busy during the summer vacation he gave me access to the mainframe computer where he taught. I was so small that I could not reach the console of the computer, so I stood on piles of computer paper to reach the console. It was an IBM mainframe, so I learned there. I had a reasonably successful startup before I went to college, where I developed a new method of holography that required a single, coherent point, no mirrors, and a certain orientation and type of photographic plate to work on. Then I entered Imperial College as a biochemist, followed by a Master in biophysics and bioengineering, and that led me on to Oxford. I came from university and then worked in the pharmaceutical industry on algorithms and parallel computing.

Is there any special advice you would give to your younger self? Is there any remorse you have?

Dr. Mark Baker: Not really. Every thing you do on your way makes you the person you are today. But I would say to my younger self - and to other young people who make the same mistake - when you see an opportunity, you should take it and not just follow the conventional path.

What inspired you to start the MediChain project?

Dr. Mark Baker: I've been thinking about big data with Oxford colleagues for many years. For some time now, we've been discussing and developing ideas about how we share data, how each record needs to be digitally signed to be accessible, and so we know where it comes from and what the sources are. About three years ago, the University of Edinburgh asked me to start a start-up that does "predictive analytics" using NHS data. They wanted to find out what the best treatments were, what the best practices, what the hidden negative or even positive side effects of certain medications were and what else they could improve. This project has never been realized. But I really wanted to do it. Then came the blockchain technology, a chance to realize the project. Blockchain technology offers many features we need. I also have personal experience with the US healthcare system in San Francisco. This gave me an idea of how fragmented other health systems are. So I realized that patients in the US need a platform where all data is collected and stored securely. Over the past few years, there have been numerous privacy violations and data integrity of personal information. I have always had the feeling that if people understand the value of their own data, it would be beneficial for them to have their own data completely controlled.

Can your project help people from developing countries? At the moment, it is not very profitable for pharmaceutical companies to invest in countries that can not afford medicines. If people from developing countries could sell their data to pharmaceutical companies because they have a monetary value, they could benefit.

Dr. Mark Baker: That's a big problem. We do not want to have a situation where people feel we are selling their data because they are too poor to access the healthcare system. Still, I believe there is a chance to revolutionize the system in large developing countries. In the case of India, for example, a large part of the population now have smartphones, and so they can directly access our system, essentially a Big Data-based system, and take advantage of it. In the Indian market, every consumer has an individual per capita value for a pharmaceutical company. The Indian economy is about the size of the EU and is likely to continue to grow over time.

Did you have doubts after launching this project?

Dr. Mark Baker: I think it's a challenge. I can not remember any doubt. But there are dozens of big challenges that we need to overcome, and I think we have a roadmap for that. But it would not be wise to underestimate the scope of these challenges. There were many capable people who spent a lot of time and effort on these types of projects and did not succeed. That's why we need to make sure that we are humble and listen. We have to try to find people who can help us get better. The overall challenge is very big. Therefore, we have to break the challenge into intermediate goals, we can divide it into pieces. We can make sure that we reduce the risk. But we recognize that the challenges are significant.

One last question: what's next in your master plan?

Dr. Mark Baker: Well, if growth opportunities remain in the world of blockchain, MediChain itself has a number of closely related blockchain projects that could spin out and become subsidiaries. Things like IoT. Things like medical remote consultations and doctors on call. All of these become data sources for MediChain, but everyone deserves their own project. They could become natural subsidiaries that would feed into the same ecosystem.

I urge you to look at the @bittrex wallet. https://steemit.com/@bittrex/transfers

There are hundreds of transfers of steem to a previously unused account called @deepcrypto8.

There are some steem transfers to a few other previously unused accounts.

I can’t see any transfers of steem to any active users, except one called @laguia who received 45 steem from @bittrex 11 hours ago. 9 hours ago @laguia transferred 170 steem to @deepcrypto8.

This seems odd.

Edit: according to a comment from @penguinpablo “Binance uses this account: @deepcrypto8
https://steemblockexplorer.com/@deepcrypto8”.

It still seems odd that bittrex is making so many transfers to a rival exchange, but none to active steemit users.

Hello sir I got my own steembot @whalecreator and if you want to delegate some of your huge SP to the bot You will have 100 %returns from your delegation without any commission and of course you can undelegate any time you want.

sir, hello can you transfer me some SBD

There is a solution for this issue.

When you want to withdraw your STEEM/SBD from BITTREX, if your username is lower than 10 characters, you can put your username, and then pulse the Space Tab as many times you need to complete the 10 characters needed to valid your withdraw.

They have to fix it or explain it yet. But this solution indeed works.

@metalmag25 thank you very much for this information I just tried it and it worked perfect.
The Bittrex support has send me a second mail in which it says (This issue is currently in the process of being fixed by our development team and should be fixed soon. )
Thanks again I will Edit my post and let the people know about your solution.
Have a nice day and a great weekend :)

@danyelk. I see some incoming SBD to your wallet in the last hour, but no steem. Have you tested it with steem?

No but if it works with SBD it will for sure work with Steem too.

@metalmag25 did you test this? There is no sign of any incoming transfer from bittrex in your account in the last 24 hours.

No, i read about the solución in another post in spanish earlier in the day

Hah, really stupid issue for a huge project like Bittrex :)

It's time to start looking into #decentralised exchanges. There is no good reason to outsource security to Bitrex, Binance or Mt GOX, no reason to leave your coins in their custody, and use complaining when they fail you.

And we've already got a decentralised exchange that lists Steem (openledger dex which is built on the bitshares platform).

And that is again a centralised trap, just called differently.

Yup I totally agree with you.

Yea thats true

I tried sending 1 sbd today from bittrex. I used my memo name and it accepted that but I still have not received it in my Steemit account. It is still reserved on Bittrex.

Please let us know if and when you get it.

14 hours have passed since you wrote the above @cryptokel. I just looked in your wallet and there is no sign of you receiving anything from bittrex in the last 24 hours.

You can use blocktrades.us to convert your steem to whatever you want (btc, doge, dash, bitcoincash etc).

It's decentralised and quick.

Did you even read my post?
I know that we can use blocktrades to convert Steem in other coins but I want to send Steem or SBD from my Bittrex account to my Steemit account.

Cool, when thanks to STEEM we find new friends. It's priceless. Good luck to you and Love....

Thanks good luck to you too :)

use 10 words like danyelk and use space bar even 10 words are complete

Well seems like I am in the list of not getting the withdraw done for now as I have 5 letter username !

Hope they fix the issue ASAP !

rehan12 is 7 characters but still 3 missing so yup you have to wait ;)

Yep forgot the 12 ;)

but no matter still missing though :(

Hey and now there is no "Memo" or "Acct" but Tag and Address. And when there is a Confirm Withdrawal field you can see that the old fields are there. I think people should test the new site before adding it. People trade millions there hah!

I'm not aware of this issue. Good thing you mention it in your post. I hope Bittrex will be able to fix it very soon.
