For those who aren't aware, Freewallet is one of those mobile wallets where users can store varying cryptocurrency from Bitcoin, Ethereum, EOS, Bitcoin Cash, Bytecoin, Monero, etc. It is great for the users who aren't to tech savvy or knowledgeable about cryptocurrency but want a place/store all of their cryptocurrency with the ease of buying and selling. For Steem investors, it affords them the opportunity of investing in Steem and stashing away some of that wealth from the preying eyes of public on the Steem blockchain.
It is one of those cool wallets--> I have had good experiences with them in the past as I used it primarily for my Dogecoins, Bytecoins and Monero storage. Thus, news like this comes with some disappointment as they haven't given any specific reason. It is one of those wallets that don't ask you to much personal information and you can readily move coins around. It has also come a long way as you can now Buy and Sell varying cryptocurrencies and also allow fiat purchases of specific cryptocurrency that can then be used to buy other cryptocurrency offered within the wallet. The customer service is also quite responsive and the fees are affordable especially when moving small amounts of crypto.
For Steem the news is abit disappointing and I certainly hope something can be work out in the future. What is more alarming as we approach the April 1st date, there is still 400K+ of Steem in their wallet. Thus, I am encouraging folks to take some time if you are holding some Steem there, to remove it and seek alternative wallets. I know there is quite a few folks who rather not have the exact Steem holding available to the public eye and there still places where you can stash away. Once again I am not recommending it, take it with a pitch of salt. Eobot is still around, its one of those old-school, mining and wallet platforms around. Steem is still among those selected few cryptocurrency where you can store some of your Steem. Of course, you can also use exchanges, to buy and stash temporary, but as most of you know by now, this is not a recommended option.
I am still hopeful, probably this is temporary and something can be work out, as there are investors who aren't interested holding their Steem within the wallets available to the public eye here on the platform but rather use other wallets with a little anonymity available like Freewallet offers. Please remember to spread the word around and move your coins before the April 1st 2018 deadline.
