I often will finish putting a post together, or think of a post, at a time that is not ideal for actual posting, ie when traffic is lower, etc.
If there has been a discussion or suggestion of this, then I apologize, but it would be tremendous to have the possibility of scheduling a post for future publishing. Has this been discussed? Would it be technically complex to make happen?
Thoughts on this @andrarchy @aggroed @meno ?
The eSteem app by @good-karma allows for post scheduling as does https://streemian.com/profile/scheduledposts

Great idea. Some of these whizz kids (that they have nowadays) must be able to do it.

This can be accomplished on other front ends like streemian, but it would be nice to have on steemit. Trouble is, there are security concerns. The front end has to store the posting key, or use some other strategy. Not impossible, just tricky.

I use Streemian for this.

As @inertia pointed out there is no way to do it directly on Steemit.com at the moment. But it's one of the features and advantages of using Streemian.
Visit this link https://streemian.com/ and register.
The verification process is a little tedious, but not too hard to do. Once you have your account on Steem connected to Streemian, you can have full access to all its features.
That being said, precisely on the subject of this post. Streemian can schedule them exactly as you want, but their editor is quite basic. So what I would recommend anyone thinking about using it for this purpose, would be to start the post on Steemit... double and triple check for errors and what not.... and then copy past the code itself onto Streemain to schedule it. That way you know more accurately how it's going to look on Steemit.
If you need helping setting any of this up, I'm here as always.

At the time of posting there is no barrier to the schedule. Whenever the time will be the post it will post it. Thank you for your beautiful post.

I think that is a great idea!
As well as being able to 'save' a post for reading at a later moment.

I've definitely thought of this too, and probably experience loss of earnings due to a 3am post or two. Maybe we could persuade a service like Buffer to support Steemit?
A further alternative if we compose you posts in markdown using like a tool like slackedit.com then when you're happy save it and post later. I'll send in a support request for both suggesting they support Steemit.
