Say it with me: Buy Steem and power up!

in steem •  7 years ago

I'm continuing the "buy Steem and power up" mantra, this time testing blocktrades for the transaction. Previously I had been using SBD to buy Steem and ultimately power it up through the internal market, but some Steemians advised me that I might get better rates through blocktrades, but more importantly internal trades don't count towards trade volume, so that I'd be helping the ecosystem more by doing it with blocktrades. I tested this today.

Fortunately, I actually ended up with a slightly better rate through blocktrades today

And then, immediately powered up the Steem I just bought! Win!

That is a good way to acquire some SP at good rates. I also like the fact that it helps boost the volume traded for Steem, hence raising awareness. Thanks for sharing this.

This is how I converted and powered up earlier today and I think I probably received a way better return than I would have otherwise. I now look forward to converting sbd so that I can see my steem power increase and feel like I am adding something to the platform by investing long term, plus my votes will eventually increase in value and help others who are new to the platform and beginning to learn about cryptocurrencies. I want to help the community grow in value and so the more sp I have the more I can assist the community. I love that you created a post on this because I shared this same experience hours ago with my own account and it was my first time buying Steem from my SBD and then powering up. I wasn't too keen on the internal market because I honestly didn't know where to begin or how long it would take to perform the transaction. That is something I still need to learn, so for now I am sticking with blocktrades and powering up. Long term investments eventually pay off!!

When you buy Steem, what advantages do you have?

the more steempower you hold in your account, the more weight your vote has. People with lots and lots of steempower could end up with $100 upvotes... mine is worth 16 cents or so...

Thank you for your response.

no problem!

Thanks for this post. I did not realize we could buy Steem Power directly. This is a great idea because it also bypasses the powering up process and goes directly to the correct part of the wallet.

Bitcoin fees are $30! OUCH!

Using this SBD rally to acquire cheap SP a great move! Doing the same myself. I find internal market and Blocktrades to be comparable.

"Buy steem and power up!" Done and done :-)

I can't wait til my liquid comes in so I can buy some more steem and power this baby up... we're talking about a long term commitment to this wonderful platform

That's what I love to hear. Followed. Check my page out?

will do @howweroll

yes, build up the community....we need more people investing on steem. Turn it into a new platform for awesome content.

I will try to do in future. I might get better rates through blocktrades .thanks for sharing and request other members to please share your personal experience on steemit. thanks

So if I understood it right you bought the steempower with the steem dollars you earned from here?

yes,

Aha. So process is...

  1. build up profile and contribute to the site which will earn SBD
  2. Use SBD to buy steem power via block trades

Super new myself so I'm trying to understand the process. Thanks for the great post.

thank you for sharing @davidpakman

I did a little yesterday and plan to do some more. Such a good idea.

Resteemed, so more people can see this mantra! Truly, when Steemit truly takes off, many will wish they had done this... thanks for spreading the word!

How ling did the transaction take? Sounds like you had it completed pretty quick. Thanks.

I still don't understand. Why buy through blocktrades rather than the market within steemit wallet? How are you getting a better return and why does it matter if using the internal market doesn't count as trades? Also, isn't blocktrades in a flagging war right now?

this is an informative and inspirational post. will definitely help me coz im just new here! thanks!

As soon as I make some SBD I'll do this, lol

Hay. My name is ubay. I want to be like you to power up my steem power. But iam just beginner in this steemit. I want to get my reputation and i want to discipline to post the good information in this steemit

Thanks for the info. I saw a post explaining the same system, but didn't have time to read it. I've been searching for this information for 2 days.
I didn't know you could simply use the 'transfer' functionality to send money to Blocktrades.
I'm learning something new about SteemIt every day - and I plan to keep doing that :-)

I'm new and really confused about all of the articles I have read about Steem. A lot of articles say different things and many articles are old with very different prices.

I just bought a very small amount of Steem (like $1.7 sbd) using the internal market and my account value doubled to $10. I'm not even exactly sure how this happened.

I want to use $100 fiat to buy steem and power up, but not exactly sure how to do it the right away. Do I have to buy BTC first?

Thank you :/
