How bots affect the steemit?

What is the importance of bots on Steemit or Steem?
Why some is using bots on Steemit network?
This is my 2nd day on Steemit, I find it very much noisy and cannot understand the way feeds and very post is working..
Can anyone help me to understand it properly?

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

    Bots are here to give you money for nothing, you can just spam posts and upvote them with bots.

    Hope you checked faq and other stuff at top right corner.
