Best way to invest in the Steem technology/platform?

Hello ... I normally trade Stock Options and Stocks, and buy Precious Metals ... I've been watching Crypto-Currencies for years (since Bitcoin was just around a couple bucks) ... I didn't/don't really trust Crypto-Currencies enough to invest in them .... however, I feel Steem is a social media game-changer due to the fact that it rewards/shares with it's content creators.

Because of Steems rewards/sharing model; I'm interested in investing some money into Steem ... however, I don't know enough about Steem/Crypto's to know how/where to invest in Steem or exactly what part of Steem I should be buying for a best return on investment - IE: should I buy Steem Power, Steem Dollars, Steem Savings, etc, etc?.

I just joined Steem today (May 15/2017) ... and from my research so far; it looks like I have to buy some Bitcoin inorder to buy/invest in Steem?... or can I not just simply do a wire transfer from my bank account directly to Steem to invest in Steem currency/equity? ... any opinions/feedback about investing in Steem would be greatly appreciated... also; there's probably many other people who are also unfamiliar with crypto-currencies with the same general questions I have about how to invest in Steem.

Great ... thanks for the helpful info.

Hello, I too joined Steemit today and made my first post. As you know this is a way to earn steem and invest in Steemit. I also watch all Altcoins on http://coinmarketcap.com. You can find Steem there, click on it, look at the markets it's sold on and see that Bittrex exchange lists it a bit lower than Poloniex. I've used both exchanges and you do need to have bitcoin to be able to purchase here. You can start a coinbase account to fund via your bank account or credit card, then get bitcoin and send to one of these exchanges to purchase Steem. Here is a link to create a coinbase account http://bit.ly/ffcoinz
This is my referral link so I will get $10 in bitcoin and you will too when you fund it with $100. Coinbase is free to set up but there are fees to send, sell, transfer bitcoin.

I agree with you. Steemit is a great platform with excellent network effects and longevity, unlike most Altcoins. Cheers!

Thanks for the info ... too bad you can't just wire money directly from your bank account to the Steem platform ... would be alot easier/quicker than the learning curve required for setting up a Bitcoin account and all the associated steps... will start looking into setting up a Bitcoin account tomorrow.

Sure thing. I am knew to Steem as well so there may be another way that I'm not aware of. They are working on a lot of upgrades, this could be one.

hello @dds ..yoy should buy steem power and set your account to vote automatically for valuable content..you can do this by folowing a great curator at streemian.com ..when you vote the author takes 75 % and the curators 25 %..so you will earn from your votes and from the rising value of the price..steem and steem power is the same coin but steeem power can redeemed after 13 weekly payments..welcome to steemit and good luck!!!

Great discussion point. Same thoughts here. The future is in blockchain. Crypto prices might be inflated now but the market will find it's way just like it did with the Internet boom. We do need to look better at the insights of every coin. What team is behind it, is there any management. How strong is the product, is there any product at all? Personally I always use: https://www.coincheckup.com An amazing crypto research site. They researched every single crypto out there. This is truly great.
