Let me start by explaining the concept of BITCOIN AND STEEM
Money does not exist...
money truly exists in the minds of fools...
Money is only to exalt VALUE
ALL THE MONEY PUT IN THE WORLD will represent VALUE
A government Controlled FIAT is the Value placed on the CURRENCY, by their EDUCATIONAL QUALITY, MINERAL RESOURCES, DEVELOPMENTS etc.
those add values to their currencies...
FIAT is a Latin word it MEANS "Out from Nothing"(The Webster Dictionary Defines it as a command or act of will that creates something without or as if without further effort.)
STEEM and BTC are made out of nothing.. the value is the security, the transferability, the decentralization (meaning having no control or government ties)
Those are what gave value to digital/cryptocurrencies
Steemit is a platform where Digital Contents are given Value.
When you upvote a content you give it value...
...when you add a post, discover a content and comment on it or upvote if you are adding value to the community. You will get a Curation or Authors Reward in 7days..
to get that reward, a group of people called THE WITNESS, allow this blocks of data to be added to the steemit blockchain server/node, develop, and ensure that the steem network, website and everything works properly.

Now imagine one day everyone in the world learns the truth about fiat money, and we decide we can shape in a way that reflects the true value of things we see in the world. I'd like to think that when we reach this level of understandig we will be able to decide that a forest has more value staying a forest, cleaning the air, and housing animals, than it would in our current money system, that says the value is in cutting down that forest. Consumer culture could be replaces with a sustainable one. Where the more efficiently you use resources, the richer you become, rather than our current system which encourages what amounts to hording, while people outside starve.
