Steem.Supply Update: Top 20 Most Tags By Payout

As Steemit becomes more popular, the competition for the rewards pool increases so it pays out - literally - to know which topics / areas can generate the most income.

I had my hunches for a while, but without some clear data to back my assumptions, I couldn't be sure, so I decided to add a little bit of spice to steem.supply and introduce a new chart. In the end, my assumptions proved true.

As you can see from the screenshot above (taken from @raluca's account), this new metric is a top 20 tags bar chart, ranked by cumulative payout. So if you had a tag in 4 posts, the value of each of the posts will be added. What you get is an interesting image of the top 20 performing tags. You can find it in the "Content Insights" tab.

As always, looking forward to your criticism, feedback and suggestions.

I never knew that health tag could generate that kinda traffic, as much as @reluca bring good recipes to our notice, we are good to go.😊

I'm amazed that art isn't on there

Very insightful analysis with the chart
Good with

One day we'll all look back and feel so fortunate to have been the early birds 🚀

I just started using your report and love it! Can't be without it now.

This new chart is very interesting and I will definitely use it. I tag all my posts with fitifun, so it throws it off somewhat. But I am surprised at some and not surprised by others. And now I have new focus! Just what I need on this long slog :)

Holy moly, it's getting better and better! I'm an avid user already, but these small features are...eh, I can't even find a word. ^^"

What about releasing the source code on Github? I guess omitting confidential keys and/or writing a deployment guide might be a bit tedious, but is maybe worthy, as well.

Especially with Utopian ;)

It's in the plan :)

wow, i'm clueless on half of them... every since the reformat I don't know which tags are hot, but it doesn't matter much for me anyhows /// peace !

Thanks. I found your name on steem.supply which is an excellent tool and got you my witness vote. We newbies need more of people like you because navigating steem and dtube is no picnic. thanks again!

Is very useful!

At first I thought that it was a general chart of all steemit users, and I didn't like it because it could introduce a bias in topics of interest for people (I know this bias already exists and that kind of charts can be found everywhere).

But when I checked in my account the info shown is only related to my posts...

Really cool, thanks for these useful insights!

Surpirsed not to see Bitcoin there, cool info.

It's not a surprise, since @raluca barely writes about bitcoin :) These tags are for a specific user, they're not for the entire Steemit universe :)

Oh, I am sorry.. I commented before reading the full article!

no worries :)

Photography deserves to be the number in the list. Whenever I open my account I usually go straight to photography tag after checking my wallet. A lot of amazing photos are being posted here in steemit.

I'm very pleased that photography is number one as it's something anyone can do and it can curate great content.
I am surprised that "crypto" based tags were not as high.

This is really useful info, thanks for doing this.

It's not a general report :) I reckon you don't use steem.supply very often, otherwise you would have realized what this new chart does: it takes all the tags from a certain user posts and it calculates the most popular ones.

Oh ok, well this is only my 2nd day on the site so I don't yet know about such things. I never even knew steem.supply existed. But, now I do so the lesson is learned :)
Now I have to go find the general report as I am curious.

Welcome to steemit!
As a coincidence, a general report like you asked have been recently published, by user @paulag (a good data analyst I follow).
Enjoy!

thanks for the shout out

You're welcome :)

Thanks for the heads up. Heading over there now to soak up the knowledge.

I'm seeing several people having the same confusion I had.

Maybe the intro image helped to create that confusion because it has many tags -which is very normal for prolific users like you ;)

I see that if he continues to do so, he will know that his wish will rise in the near future
So we have more work and investment and diligence for me to take the reward
And collect the largest number

wow very useful analysis..so photography as come to number 1..that is good..anyway thanks for sharing these facts with us sir :)

What!?!?! Ro...ro...is there....howww...

it's not about the general tags, it's a sample took from a Steemit user :)

damn , i use these tags and nobody give a sh!t about my photos :D

What is this the average payout....????
You see no. of people using photography tag or sevendaybnwchallenge are far greater than people writing in cryptocurrencies genre.
So an average pay out per post would depict the true picture...
For a given tag, Divide total earning with no of posts using that tag...
Please correct me if I am wrong..

The chart you see it's taken from a certain user, it's not an average across all users. The metric is intended to help a user see which of the tags he writes under have the most potential.

Hm. Nice work collecting and compiling and putting in bar chart...
It certainly is useful.
I am having a hot cup of coffee. So here's to you sir CHEERS @dragosroua

I'm actually surprised by the popularity of some of these tags, but thank you for doing this analysis!

Thank you for the idea.

Great breakdown !! photography leading from the front
