πŸ”² ARE YOU SHOWING GRATITUDE TO YOUR TALENTS?

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
~Tim Notke~

Talent? Meh. I think it's overrated.

Talent is like being born into a really wealthy family, in my opinion. You think you got it all, but don't forget that you still need to grind on your craft to build that skill. Because skill on the other hand, is not simply a given. No talent in the world can outperform skill single-handedly.

I see talent as a skill-enhancer. Without the required man-hours put in, talent is worthless. It needs to be paired with the necessary skill set to function as a unit.

This is where many people become naive. They think that because someone is talented that they cannot be outperformed. That's a lie. Because hard work beats anything.

There are so many people out there who are talented at things, but do not work on those talents. So they just rot away, and take their genetics for granted. Do not take your gifts for granted. Use them! To the best of your ability!

I like to think of Usain Bolt in this example. Bolt has run the 100m dash faster than anyone in history. He is the perfect example of talent mixed with skill. Have you ever seen how this man trains? Long story short, he puts in the work.. The man-hours. So he deserves it. On top of that, he is showing gratitude for the gifts he has been given, by putting them to great use.

So my question for you is.. Are you doing the same with your talents?

@enazwahsdarb YOU'RE BACK! I'm so glad! I got worried after the first three days I didn't see anything from you. I'm so happy you're better enough to stay, Zane!
Now, about talent- I think you're absolutely right when you say we must work on bettering our natural talents for them to become an actual skill. I, for instance, have always found my way with words, and writing is just the perfect way for me to express feelings, however, I've never considered myself a writer, because there's so much more to it than only "knowing what to say", you feel me?
One day I decided I was going to take English and Italian classes, so I had more options to express myself (my native language is Spanish), and I have read books on writing. I thought I wrote good poems, and don't get me wrong, I still love my old pieces, but things like metric were unknown to me, and sooner than later I realized that my poems didn't have a structure or they didn't have the right rhyme, things like that.
It's primary to put effort on bettering the things we're good at, so we can really be excellent.
PS: I hadn't had the chance to thank you for the signature banner you made for me, I absolutely loved it and I use it for every good post I write <3 It was very kind of you. Thanks!!!

What an awesome comment. Thank for that, Maria!

I remember you were friends with Jessy! I distinctly remember you haha. I’m glad you liked the banner πŸ˜‰

I liked the way you spoke about poetry with embracing your talent as a writer! I’m glad you have at least recognized that talent. Most people are even unaware of half the things they’re naturally good at!

Stay awesome!

Haha, I'm glad you do remember me! I casually met up with her today, LOL. Thank you, for being as awesome as ever!
And yes, I sure am lucky to have recognized that awesome talent :)

Sometimes we forget how talented we are and how it separates us from one another . Different people with different talents creates an unbelievable force .

So true! Nicely said :) I like the way you put that!

Nothing nurtured, nothing gained.

Great to see you back with zest in your writing!

Thanks for that, Joan! You’re awesome.

This is very true. I share your opinion whole-heartedly. Talent is just something the society has engrained in its culture, to reduce the number of people who ACT on their dreams and then fail. Society wants comfort, change requires discomfort.

TL;DR

Do not let talent or the lack thereof, guide you away from your dreams.

PS: I absolutely love your formatting and pictures!

Society wants comfort, change requires discomfort.

Hectically accurate! Good job with that one :)

Thank you very much for that! Back in the day I like to think that I was notorious for that haha. I appreciate that!

Josh Groban often gets upset when people tell him that he is lucky because of his singing talent. He advised that it took years of practice to get where he was vocally. Its not like he just woke up one day and was famous with albums and had the ability to sing on the spot.

So to me, I think talent is raw, directing it to allowing it to be constructive takes skill.

Very awesomely said! I love it.

The Josh Groben example was also no point!

totally agree ...talent is the seed if it is not nurtured and deliberately cultivated it will amount to nothing I like what calvin coolridge said...... Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

talent is the seed if it is not nurtured

Yes! Exactly that.

This is very true especially when it comes to trading the financial markets. Discipline is key to consistent profitability, analysis only accounts for less than 20%.

So true! 80% of trading is psychology! Good example right there :)
