There are really nice alternatives like https://whaleshares.io/ and https://smoke.io/ that are growing wonderful communities. Also https://minds.com/ is really good. And guess what, the rewards distribution mechanism on all of them is waaaay better and fairer than any other day on Steem.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:
