Pretty 'unfair' and a really poorly thought out way to try to make an argument- but the best thing everyone can do is take the free bit of steem and ignore them. Bullies can only be bullies if we let them change and beat us down. If you are worried or want to talk a bit more about it, feel free to mention or ping/DM me on discord.
All that being said, we also have to try to help people who might react with fear at first understand that part of the beauty of Steem is that no matter what, you can do a thing- like vote for a witness, or write, or whatever- and someone trying to spend all the money in the world can't take it from you and can't force you. Can't falsify or change your votes, or have any impact on your decisions unless you choose to let it be so. Doesn't feel good and doesn't make things up, but it's a powerful statement, especially in these times. In any case, there are so many people who vote for Mark's witness that it's likely any downvoting attempts will be diluted anyways. Means that if they want to buy more Steem, they're going to have to push up the price for everyone else.

The likely hood that the account would do anything is probably slim given the number of Marky voters. I'm not concerned about the down vote, I am concerned about this shit being spread. It feels like the pro-life protestors who like to line the Bloomsday race and hold the signs of aborted fetuses and call people sinners and whores. Just annoying that they would make such a scene in public and intentionally try to incite people.
Thanks @crimsonclad

Completely agreed. All we can do is get out there and remind people- "This is how badly someone wants to control you. And despite all their threats, they have to spend a ton of money and still won't be able to even make good on them, and will never be able to ban, change, silence, or 'disappear' your choices here unless you decide to go along with it and take the action yourself."

Stake as a trolling and control method is rough. If the guy decides to downvote I'll take my downvotes.
I vote for Marky, while I don't think he is perfect, he is involved, pays attention and does the things that he thinks are good for Steem, even when it creates a fuss

I am not concerned with a downvote since they would be spreading themselves thin with the numbers. I think my concern is that this shit is happening at all. I know there is no real control over what someone uses stake for, it is more frustration/annoyance that this happens.
No witness is perfect just like life and I will keep my vote for him.

I agree it is sad this is happening, it's not the first time, usually it is done quietly in different channels.

DPOS certainly has it's weaknesses. Also imperfect and young.

Moreso when the greedy exploit the weaknesses.
All in the name of roi!
I, for one, will be glad when they figure out that reaping the reward pool is less roi than pumping the price.
We've had enough experiments to know that maintaining a ninjamined percentage of the coin will eventually be overturned by the inflation.
And not that far into the future, if my math is close to right.

Also if we have an alt season... many of the whales that sold last time will have to decide whether to hold their stake or sell. Distribution continues whether we see bulls or bears, why to you think they are pushing the burn post so hard.

Yep, and if they would stop selling for less than 4usd, the price would stay 4usd, but you know, profits!
Btc, now!
This scheme has lasted longer than they thought it would, imo.

I hope you are right but humans seem to be inherently greedy and some much more than others. The tides need a turning I think.

Yep, crypto is a good first step, but we won't know freedom until we account for things in other than money.

Okay, I have no clue what that book is but i am intrigued and downloaded it to peruse. It is already striking a bunch of bells in my head just scanning the first chapter and intro.

It was written in 1887, and intentionally overlooked in your 'greatest edumacation evah!'.
I found it in a very small library in a tiny 'town'.
You might like this one even better.
It is from 1907, and also purposely omitted from your syllabus.
I found it in the same little library.

I saw that. Apparently he'll do this for about 4 weeks, and then drop it. Sounds like he's done this before, from what Marky said...

It is silly how much work someone is going through to retaliate against Marky.

The irony in all this is that Marky helped me build @opgaming, and I'm still going to keep my witness votes where they are. They have given me no reason to remove my witness vote, because they will not help me build the way Marky has.

Someone needs to make @themarkymark a shirt that say "downvote freek". Hell, I kinda want one myself.
