Last night on my nationally syndicated talk radio show, Free Talk Live, a caller brought up Steem and we discussed it for several minutes. It was Jeff Berwick's post here that inspired the caller and he generously offered to appear on tonight's episode of Free Talk Live to get into more detail about Steem.
FTL is an open phones show, so if you have questions for Jeff, feel free to join the conversation toll-free at 1-855-450-3733. We'll start at 7:06pm Eastern and you can listen live at http://FreeTalkLive.com/live
You can also listen on radio stations across the United States. Here's a list of the 170 that carry our show (not all are on live Monday night) and here's a handy map of the transmitter sites.
We're also heard on Free-to-Air satellite in North and Central America and Sub-Saharan Africa via LRN.FM, the Liberty Radio Network. If you like Jeff Berwick, you'll be happy to know that LRN.FM also carries his show, Anarchast. (Along with dozens of other great, liberty-oriented and cryptocurrency-friendly programs.)
Hope you can tune in tonight starting at 7:06pm Eastern. If not, no worries - I'll update this post later on with archive links.
UPDATE: We pretty much spent the whole show discussing Steem. Here are the full audio and video archives: https://steemit.com/steemit/@ftlian/the-great-steem-debate-berwick-vs-sovryn-steem-discussed-for-hours-on-national-radio
This was actually painful for me to listen to. Jeff did a great job with the limited information he's been able to gather in this short period of time but throughout the show there was a great deal of bad information spurred mostly by Daryl's insistence on relaying Tone Vays misinformed position. Daryl's constant obnoxious fabrication of details, events, and mechanisms had me screaming.
Tone Vays does not understand what he's trying to critique and it seems there are a growing number of ignoramus' spouting his nonsense.
Otherwise, it was a good show and I'm glad to see more people talking about steem. I especially appreciated the hosts cool, honest and respectful demeanor.
If anything I think this illustrates there is work to be done in providing clear understandable information for people to quickly and easily grasp what all is going on here. There is plenty of information out there but it is not prominently displayed or easily located i guess.
It reminds me of all the people vehemently bitching "scam" and "ponzi" when bitcoin first came around and it did not fit into their existing cognitive frameworks.

I was saddened at the lack of knowledge and the spread of misconceptions in the program. It would have been necessary to have invited a core dev on to the program to make up for the newness to the system of ALL of the participants. None of them had a clear understanding of any of the concepts really.

I agree. I felt exactly the same. However, I think Jeff was unprepared. He needs to take more time to understand Steemit before going on anymore interviews. As for Daryl, of the view times I've listened to the show he has been always painful to listen to. In all, a lot of misinformation, misunderstanding and confusion. Disappointing show. One of the few times I have reversed an upvote.

Darryl does NOT add anything to that show.
Ian brought him on and coddled him a few years ago, it was weird. Like he was dating him...?
Darryl pretends to be knowledgeable about anything at hand. Ian will say, 'oh, but Darryl is highly intelligent'.
Unbelievable. Nobody really liked him at first, and I get the feeling nobody really ever learned to.
Except Melanie, she may be his love interest. Don't know.

I like how you say people were bitching "scam" and "ponzi" when bitcoin first came around. They're still doing it right now! sick..

Jeff Berwick is the reason I learned about and joined Steemit. His interview will most likely bring even more users to Steem. One interview at a time, more and more people will become Steemers too!
Steem on!
Mike

I listened to the show, it was pretty good. He could not answer some of the technical questions about Steemit but he explained he just started a few days ago.
You should try and get Dan and Ned on the radio show. There is a lot of technical information on this multi-layered system that provides both security and longevity to its users. This is a very important aspect of the platform in stopping hacks and other types of security attacks. This is also what it makes it better than all the other Cryptocurrencies.

Agreed! @peacekeeper Additionally, open source multi-layered system security dialogue is enticing to devs exploring sub-chain implementation strat.

Hey, Ian. You've guys raised concerns about getting your Steem dollars out. I've used this website 5+ times to transfer into Bitcoin, and you can do so without creating an account. It's simple. www.blocktrades.us

yep, that was me.
I called in to ask if Mark or Ian had heard of Steem, they said yes, but Brian Sovryn had reamed the whole thing so they didn't know what to think of it.
So I told them TALK TO JEFF, I knew they were friends, so yeah it was me.
Up vote me with loving affecting please, and I'd greatly appreciate you ALL following me. It would be an honor.
And yes I'll follow each of you on this page as of now.
:^)
