A better evaluation of what Steem means

Byteball's airdrop to Steem users we talked about in yesterday's post gives us, if we needed it, a better evaluation of what Steem means, through the eyes of someone from the outside:

  • a working blockchain, with many top characteristics
  • the value of an user base built in time
  • the value of a strong community
  • the power of social media platforms, in further promoting/propagating a brand

Byteball probably decided to partner with Steem because of theses advantages it could find here, and chose to reward people based on their reputation, which most of the times goes hand in hand with a person's consistency in creating valuable content. Individually, this is another proof of how rewarding it is to be active and consistent over time.

I found a good review of Byteball by @cryptoctopus, who emphasized the fact that Byteball is a fully-featured working project as well, unlike the majority of crypto projects. The fact there are so few functional projects make it so hard to find them in the sea of unfulfilled promises.

This kind of airdrops is a good way to draw the attention of other crypto enthusiasts (for now) to your blockchain, and I think Byteball has an interesting plan with this, and maybe others will want to take advantage of the possibilities Steem offer.

Keep in mind we talk about this in a pre-SMT stage, when another blockchain can leverage the user base and social aspect of Steem to plan airdrops as Byteball did, but after the SMTs will be released, ANY BUSINESS from any niche and many probably unrelated to crypto can have their own SMT designed for their online business and tap into the user base and communities of Steem as well as bring their own community closer to crypto, but create their own unique rewarding experience with their own Smart Media Token.

A week ago, unless you had inside information, you probably didn't see the airdrop from Byteball (or any airdrop) for Steem users coming. What will be here next week and we don't see yet? We keep saying after SMTs will be here there will be this or that, but besides a few projects which have announced in advance they plan to have their own SMTs, we don't really know what's up for us. Whatever it is, I think it will be BIGGER than we imagine right now. The growth may be exponential. I, for one, am looking forward to the future of the Steem blockchain and us, Steem hodlers.
