HF21 talk

in steem •  6 years ago

In the past I was much more curious about the discussions witnesses had in their channel. Not anymore, I guess...

Anyway, seems there's consensus among Top witnesses (and Steemit), regarding the structure of HF21. That will include many, and I mean, MANY changes.

If there won't be rewarding alternatives (community tokens? steemit token?) to content creators after those MANY changes, I don't see the whole thing well.

I'm not one who earns much in term of rewards, author or otherwise, and sometimes I give away more than I make in a month. But I have a daily habit of posting. And yes, I like receiving author rewards, even if they are certainly not making me rich, nor even growing my account significantly.

But taking over 50% of the author rewards is simply extreme, and you will alienate many content creators. And yes, changing distribution from 75/25 to 50/50, taking 10% from the reward pool for SPS and changing the linear rewards to convergent linear rewards will likely have that cumulative effect for most authors (especially if they are not popular).

If many authors will give up on regular posting, what will be left to curate then?

I understand, consensus was very hard to reach. I hope the very smart consensus people don't mess up... again.

I will continue to write and be on Steem, even if the whole thing goes wrong. Hopefully there will be enough of us left.

Steeming on...

Well, its not like we have a voice. We are on our knees to the king steemit.

Instead being the future of crypto we are becoming the medieval age of crypto.

We have Dan Larimer to thank for these rushed decisions on STEEM. If he wouldn't have created the "Steemit killer", nobody would have tried to hastily turn STEEM economy upside down and hope it still works afterwards. We, the community, have a voice (fragmented on this matter), Dan's voice is just louder and Steemit is afraid (before we see what's really about, or maybe they already know...).

I think its time to discuss if we want to steemit to be the head of this. Every day steemit looks more like a vassal system that a decentralized system.

Not to mention that im aware that talking about this can end in a flag bot over my head.

This is a complicated matter. Yes, we can use more decentralization, but at times we also need coordinated efforts. That's where Steem Alliance should have their place, but I don't really know what is their situation now.

Well... I feel like a buzzkiller, but they dont seem to care much about nothing more than money...

Money always have a strange effect on people.

Yeah, but that short minded view can destroy the entire ecosystem.

Well, "money" were always part of Steem, and people think of it, so unless we plan on removing the rewards, we have to deal with the amplified reactions based on effects to people's wallets.

That's a "problem" regular social media sites (still) don't have.
