no fee to do it... you just have to go by their exchange rate which may be a little less so i guess thats how they make their commission :)

Yeah definitely you should make a similar tutorial for Brazilians... my husband is saying that he would love for more brazilians to be on Steemit so maybe that would encourage them if you show them how easy it is :)

resteemed .. just waiting for that email window to pop up..i have shown my wife this and now she wants to join steemti because she can see that the money is real. but it is taking a little longer than a few minutes to pop that email entry window up. been 30 min now and still waiting. but thanks for helping me get the wife into it : o)

I can't get historical STEEMAUD data, but going off current price the fee/rate premium was quite substantial - 10% or so.
48 hours is also a fair wait, converting to BTC and selling at Local Bitcoins would be a lot quicker ... not sure how total fees would compare.
Either way, this is great news. Aussies can now buy and sell Steem directly for AUD. For such a small country, we produce a surprising number of savvy entrepreneurial minds!

Yeah Local Bitcoins is great - years ago it was pretty much your only option for buying bitcoin. The best professional traders on there will do an instant cash deposit at a smart-ATM or online transfer from same bank. Not everyone does that though, so just check the details before initiating a sale. Some traders also require SMS and ID verification, but most aren't too fussed.
