February 1st is the start date of the Vice ICO, which runs until February 28th. For you that don't know, Vice aims to monetize the online pornography industry by paying users in a Steemit style web site. When I first heard about this SMT I was very excited about the idea of a crowdsale funded in Steem. Unfortunately the crowdsale will be on Ethereum in the form of a proxy token because Vice will be a platform designed to run on top of the Steem blockchain. It turns out that Steem holders aren't completely left out, Vice plans to airdrop 400 million tokens to be distributed amongst Steem holders. This works out to be approximately 1.5 tokens per held Steem. The value per Vice token is hard to predict but I think 2 cents/token could be expected based on what the Vice team hopes to raise. Details of the airdrop are thin, but I have to assume those who hold their Steem on Steemit will receive them, but if you hold your Steem on an exchange you may be out of luck.

Not quite. I believe they plan to take one or several "snapshots" of the STEEM blockchain and distribute tokens based on how much SP you hold. @appics announced a similar plan at Steem Fest.

I haven't found any details on the distribution methods. The 400 million distributed comes from the Vice whitepaper.

The SMT's are based on steem the way the SBD is sort of so if it is built on steem the idea of SMT's is that you can trade them for steem in a similar market to the way SBD is traded for STEEM can you imagine how cool it is if every SMT out there decides to make it rain on the Steem Power holders This will make holding steem power super valuable and people will buy more steem to power up so they can enjoy the showers.... ok I know bad puns with Vice coin lol.
