Russia's use of North Korean missiles

in steem •  7 months ago

Ukraine has investigated debris from 21 North Korean ballistic missiles launched by Russia between late December and February. Around half of the missiles veered off course and exploded mid-air, leaving no debris.

The failure rate of the North Korean missiles appears high. Russia's use of North Korean missiles has raised concerns internationally, especially regarding the effectiveness of UN sanctions on Pyongyang. Moscow's recent veto of sanctions monitors' renewal exacerbates these concerns. The missiles caused casualties and damage in Ukrainian cities.

Ukraine continues its investigation. The launch sites were identified in Russia's western regions, but it's unclear if any missiles were intercepted by air defenses. Investigations are ongoing to determine if North Korean instructors were involved in the launches.
