Why Steemit is better than Reddit, Facebook or Twitter

You might think that the answer is obvious; after all, you can't make many any money making posts or upvoting on any of the other sites.

And it's true that one of the biggest value propositions of Steemit is that good content creators and curators get rewarded for the value they create.

But that's not the only thing that makes Steemit a great platform with huge potential.

What really impressed me was the dedication of the Steemit team to this project. Yesterday, I wrote a post about how curators currently don't have enough incentive to discover great content from new, unknown posters. I did tag @dan and @ned hoping to increase the chances of it being seen, but I wasn't expecting much.

But within the hour of my post, Dan has read it, and upvoted it. Of course I was very happy to get a vote from a whale, but more important than that, it shows that the devs care. I am not a huge investor whale, nor am I some minor celebrity who brought in a bunch of new blood. Dan didn't need to spend his time reading my suggestion at all. And yet, he did.

Where else can a nobody get the attention of one of the top guys of the whole platform? That's right, no where else. Imagine trying to reach Mark Zuckerberg to tell him that facebook should have some of their algorithms tweaked because it's unfair. Yeah, right. You probably won't even be able to reach his secretary's secretary.

Dan and the other Steemit devs truly care, and want to make this a success, and they are willing to listen to a good idea, no matter who the idea is from. It doesn't matter if you're Bill Gates or a kid in Africa, if you have a good idea, you have a very good chance of getting a dev to listen. And if it's really good, it might even be implemented!

Steemit is still in its early days, and there will be huge changes and improvements with time. And we are all here now, with a voice in shaping its future. Imagine the sense of accomplishment you would get when Steemit really takes off in the future, and you played a part in making it possible. Steemit is not just the Steemit devs' baby; it's all of ours.
