That would totally suck! Wonder why people are still using master keys to log in :(

Steem needs to do a better job of explaining this, not everyone that uses the platform is a crypto wizard

scamming is everywere... The re will be a time when you are at the dentist you must pay some bitcoin first otherwise they pull out your teeth... terrible

I read a post where the author said the account is hacked...

Thanks for the tip buddy!

My pleasure man! Good news! The account is recovered now!

that is weird ! I had a look in your wallet and @samstonehill account is called account security ??? time to call in the S.B.I on this case (steemit bureau of investigation)

HAHAHAHAHA

It's scammers. Do not believe them, they only need easy money.

Man it is becoming really difficult day by day which message to trust
hope we can get rid of those accounts in the first place

It's a sign of growth. They will be able to fix it with time.

that is indeed .

Wow... account compromised! Pretty much a Steemian's worst nightmare...

Funny thing is, if you stay POWERED UP they can't steal your funds, lmao!

They can slowly as the new account owner can power down.

Right, but as long as you have your master key and the email you signed up with, Steemit team can help recover your account, so they shouldn't get too much, or nothing if they can do it in less than 7 days. @samstonehill lost the email that he signed up with, which is why he will lose everything.

Of course, best thing is to never lose your account.. :) thanks for the info, hadn't seen this scam.

I saw a post about the exact same steemian.. lithe account was hacked from what I believe and they are powering it down.

Got it thanks, it was so strange because the account was legit. How are they powering it down if they lost control? Was it the result of the DDOS?

I’m not privy to that info, however some believe it was from outside (DDoS), I however think it’s some discruntled ex steemians. There are quiet a few of them I have in mind.

The person who took over the account is powering down to take the money. There is no way for the original owner to do anything about it anymore at this point.

You didn't investigate closely enough ;P
Anyways, his account got hacked, the orignial owner is @samstonehilltube

Yeah I wanted to get the post out to make others aware of it, I included that in the update about 30 minutes after the post.

That is not a very good scam to be honest i would see that a mile off thanks for letting me know i'm sure @steemcleaners will shut them down soon enough.

Yeah anyone that says we need your master account password immediately..... smh

This is scary, as the Steem community grows I feel like it's going to come with a lot of risk

Just think of all the bitcoin wallets that got stolen over the years without anyone really noticing. This is a step in the right direction.

Ive seen by several high level accounts this is certified fake and that a couple of high level accounts have been hacked and are sending this arround.

What's the word on the smaller accounts like ours? We still safe?

Just ignore it. I think the hacker is just phishing for more passwords using high level hacked accounts. Just dont click on the link and dont put in your password when randomly asked for a password.

If you did input a random password or not sure just change it and youll be safe.

They are scammers, they send a link to a phishing site.

Thanks for the ideal publish! @inventor16

@samstonehill has been hacked the first blow of these pishing acrivity. The real owner of @samstonehill is sobbing and regreting taking bait.

You can't even view the account page anymore which is good. It's still on the blockchain but can't access it on the front end.

Yes, I wont deleted permanently it just hiding somewhere

Thanks for sharing this information here @inventor16 !
Appreciate your effort my friend !!

initially curious, the end is very remarkable ...

Thank you for the info @inventor.

@reko - "what line of action can one take?"
@steemcleaners Patrice - "Nothing but make users aware and track accounts that get stolen and hope they recover. You can check out my post in post-promotion. I do a semi-daily update on what the threat level is."

We have to secure everything, seems to be the daily task. Maybe we must should start with the STEEM SECURITY SERVICE !
Hope my coffee is not hacked while writing this comment ,....

they should be bored at steemian and try to make fun over scamian, ignore please.

The sender's account was probably hacked. Please note the URL - it isn't correct for a legitmate steemit one.
