Moving to hive

Hi @eaglespirit, that kind of upvoting is allowed, almost expected, otherwise they wouldn't have put that option there. 😉 the only bad thing with that, is it automatically depletes your voting power, which you may not notice or realize as it's happening.
I think what is being referred to most often, is the practice some people have (and I don't quite understand how it could work) of creating multiple steemit accounts, and having those accounts upvote your ¿main? account? then others see you being upvoted a lot, and not knowing any better, like good sheeple and come along for the ride and start upvoting as well.
You can invest your own Steem and pay to have your article put in the "Trending" category too, which will bring more votes, even though your post is crap.
That is how I understand, albeit imperfectly, what all the hoopla is about.

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.

Yes!! Now that makes total sense. I’ve seen some strange things going on and I could th figure it out. Thank you for explaining. I still do mornings understand how upvoting takes away money from my own post, and I see people saying I feel they upvote a lot their money goes down that way too? It’s almost like upvoting I should punished. 🤦‍♀️ I upvote a lot since I’m reading and may like what people are communicating. 😑 @jerrytsuseer

Do you use Steemnow.com? Or some other site to track your money?
With Steem Now, you can watch as with each upvote (it also shows you exactly how much your 100%vote is worth) your vote power drops.

So now, even with using my bank to purchase steem (which increases my vote power) I am down to where my vote is only worth a penny.
And it will take more than 2 full days of NOT UPVOTING ANYTHING, for it to come back up to 100 %

@jerrytsuseer this is so helpful. What does it mean “full voting power in 12 hours” and once 12 hours is here what can I do? How do I keep it at full voting power? 😁

The only way to keep it at full power is not upvote and don't post.
Upvoting (and by having that box checked, you upvote your own posts) takes $ out of your vote power, each upvote does.
Now, I'm told that you are allowed between (depending on who you are talking to) 4 and 11 full, 100% upvotes per day without it affecting your vote power.
If your V power is down, and you stop upvoting, it gradually comes back up (I think each time someone upvotes you).
I for sure don't understand it all clearly, yet, but these are the way I understand how it works.

Yes I just read the breakdown and apparently after steem power is accrued a line pops up for how much percentage Is used and how much more we have. I need steem power! LOL apparently there are people on here that have never paid for it?

Wow! NO, I had no idea about this. Thank you thank you thank you. Is this worth the energy to learn about this? Also, I’m still trying to figure out the difference of steem, steem power and steem dollars. Also how amen what to Put my money into. Plus not allow anyone else to manipulate my money?

Well now.
a. you're welcome welcome welcome, and yes it is worth it, but
b. there isn't really anything to learn about steemnow.com, it is just a little site that allows you
To keep track of your posts, their values, the upvotes by others ON your posts,
All that for the time period of one week (the payout period)

There is another site, that actually gives you more detail:

https://steemdb.com/

@jerrytsuseer my info didn’t pop up on this one, is that bc I’m only 7 days In? Looks like it has to be 30 day cycle?

It took me quite a while on this site; I thought you had to establish a new account, username, login etc...but I couldn't find any way to establish that.
If you leave the tab open long enough, it should come up, if you have a Steemit account, you automatically have one there at Steemdb.
What do you mean "I'm only 7 days in?" I thought I saw you joined up back in Nov or longer.

I see now that you are only a week old. That may be it. Leave it open for a bit just in case.♥
BTW... we need to find a better way to communicate with each other; having to come here and scroll WAY down here in a reply thread is cumbersome, and it gives curation points (I think) to the original poster.

I was thinking the same thing!

@eaglespirit, do you know about, and/or are you using the $upvote bots in Discord? The payout is pennies, but still

No, never heard of that either. I gotta get to it! Again, many thank yous for helping me. ❤️
